CDogg20 Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 I don't know why more people don't consider him as a return specialist. He was pretty good on returns last I remember
Bill from NYC Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 I don't know why more people don't consider him as a return specialist. He was pretty good on returns last I remember Bottle returns?
timekills17 Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Dropped then back with KC? Not surprising. CJ's strengths always were in cuts and returns. Thank you, I'll be here all week. Tip your waitress! Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Tuco Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 or me! spiller pretty much sucked due to low IQ, not speed or ability. I liked him til I realized his good plays were just lucky where the hole happened to open up and other plays, where a hole was right there for him, he would bounce outside. Then the next game, run into the pile when the outside was wide open, never reading it, just deciding and going and getting lucky 1 out of 4 times. Many many times there would be tons of daylight and he would just run up the back of his blockers. Speed and abiity? Yes. Vision? Not so much. Pretty sure the guy couldn't run through the woods without banging head first into a tree.
26CornerBlitz Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Damn!! @FieldYates Just prior to tonight's season opener, the Chiefs have released RB C.J. Spiller.
Royale with Cheese Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Man that really sucks CJ. I always liked you as a person. He's definitely a bust but I'm sure there has to be a team out there that could use him for depth....
Steve O Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 Many many times there would be tons of daylight and he would just run up the back of his blockers. Speed and abiity? Yes. Vision? Not so much. Pretty sure the guy couldn't run through the woods without banging head first into a tree. Which is where Freddie excelled. Like someone said, he was like water. If there was an opening he found it, and always moved forward.
K D Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 They cut him twice this week! They still can't figure out how to get him in space
Royale with Cheese Posted September 7, 2017 Posted September 7, 2017 They cut him twice this week! They still can't figure out how to get him in space The thing with him is he doesn't have vision as a runner and can't pass block at all....so you can't even put him out there in passing situations. If you're a DC...just blitz and have the blitzer come right towards him....CJ won't even make an attempt to slow him down.
26CornerBlitz Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 Aaaand, He's back! I guess they didn't want to guarantee his salary for the entire season. @Chiefs We have placed S Eric Berry on Reserve/Injured. We have signed Free Agents OL Jordan Devey, RB CJ Spiller and S Steven Terrell.
Saxum Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 No reason for teams to do so especially when a rookie may establish himself and team decides to use money later in season. Wish we did that with Reggie Bush last year (except the resigning).
Call_Of_Ktulu Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 I think Spillers main problem is between the ears. He is athletically gifted but I don't think he understands blocking assignments or a confusing playbook. I'll take a pass on Spiller and I'll take a pass on taking any RB with a 1st rd pick.
Fadingpain Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 CJ Spiller cut Bring him back? I'll hang up and take the call off air. How many posts in this thread will say "No way!" despite coming from the same posters who defended the draft choice, and the organization, at the time we drafted that guy? That's how the vocal majority around here rolls.
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted September 9, 2017 Posted September 9, 2017 ....still hope the kid makes a go of it......
26CornerBlitz Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Will CJ get any action this season? @Chiefs We have released RB C.J. Spiller. We have promoted RB Akeem Hunt from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Hunt will wear #31. 12:38 PM - 16 Sep 2017
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 CJ Spiller cut Bring him back? I'll hang up and take the call off air. Unfortunately the bills already exceed the NFL quota for old running backs.
DriveFor1Outta5 Posted September 17, 2017 Posted September 17, 2017 Very rarely am I thankful for something the Bills have, but each time I read about Spiller I think how thankful I am that we have a great running back. CJ might be a decent dude, but another wasted draft pick. Unfortunately the bills already exceed the NFL quota for old running backs. I can't think of one good reason to being him back. There is nothing he can contribute that you couldn't find anywhere. The thought of it is ridiculous.
