I admit I was bugged when Kap started taking a knee. I fought for this country. I knew people who died while serving. I felt taking a knee disrespected the folks in uniform.

But Cam is standing. He's telling people he wants to respect those who serve but also wants to bring attention to an important issue. Good for him.

Personally, I fought for a free America, not a police state.

It's not about "conservative", it is about patriotism, love of the country and respect. These players little stunts do nothing for their cause. Their is a time and place for discussion of ideas. The National Anthem is about honoring our Country and remembering the cost of their freedom to act stupid. Peoples lives.

The Anthem does no such thing. The flag on the other hand. But not the Anthem so keep trying

If 50,000 violent Skinheads all somehow bought tickets for a game and were waiting outside the Bills stadium (for accuracy’s sake, I will assume they’re Bills fans) with brass knuckles and barbed 2x4s, and the NFL had no time to switch venues, then maybe you’d get an empty stadium. But even then, I’m skeptical. The Bills tailgate lot basically looks like Mad Max: Fury Road these days, and they still let everyone in.-Deadspin

So you think we should celebrate freedom by forcing everyone to do the same thing? Funny.

I don't see why people care...some are kneeling, some are raising their arms....it's not like they're turning their back to the flag or giving the finger....what about fans in the stands, drinking, talking and shouting during the anthem?

it's their intent. The guy eating nachos is just eating nachos he isn't intentionally pissing on the national anthem in America. Jim Brown one of the greatest activists out there that was a great athlete has summed it up best go read his thoughts on this

There is a long history of peaceful protest that can be filed under patriotism. I can love my country and also want to see some changes.

Cam has the right to do this, just as others have the right to criticize him. These rights are what so many have fought and died for.

LOL at the idea that one can't love their country and protest things about it at the same time.

Not me.

Universal Standing for the aanthem never started in the NFL until 2009.

So did you still support the 90s teams when they did other things instead if standing

Need proof for me to believe, season ticket holder since 1978, anthem has always been played and fans stood. I cannot imagine no one noticed this if it is true

What is the point. Dont try to tell me it is disrespectful to the military or nation

If that's what you got out of my posts I'm not sure there's any sense in explaining my point to you, but why not.

My point was that so far no NFL team has told their players they can't do this sort of thing. This is probably because the press would be awful. Contrary to popular opinion, I don't think all press is good press, and the media laps this **** up and loves to dump on anyone who disagrees (see: the endless media hype around Kaep being "blackballed").

As far as a BLM protest outside the stadium on Sunday...have you met anyone from Buffalo? Do you really think that'd stay peaceful with thousands of drunk Buffalo people there? I said nothing about anyone's rights.

You clearly have an axe to grind but it isn't with me.

I read some other thoughts on Jim Brown. This guy should definitely be giving people advice:

In 1965, Brown was arrested in his hotel room for assault and battery against an 18-year-old named Brenda Ayres; he was later acquitted on the charges.[34] A year later, he fought paternity allegations that he fathered Brenda Ayres' child. In 1968, Brown was charged with assault with intent to commit murder after model Eva Bohn-Chin was found beneath the balcony of Brown's second-floor apartment.[35] The charges were later dismissed after Bohn-Chin refused to cooperate with the prosecutor's office. Brown was also ordered to pay a $300 fine for striking a deputy sheriff involved in the investigation during the incident. In Brown's autobiography, he stated that that Bohn-Chin was angry and jealous over an affair he had been having with Gloria Steinem and this argument is what led to the "misunderstanding with the police."[36]

In 1970, Brown was found not guilty of assault and battery, the charges stemming from a road-rage incident that had occurred in 1969. In 1975, Brown was sentenced to one day in prison and two years probation, and to pay a fine of $500 for beating and choking his golfing partner Frank Snow.[37] In 1985, Brown was charged with raping a 33-year-old woman.[38] The charges were later dismissed.[39] In 1986, Brown was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend Debra Clark. Clark refused to press charges, though, and Brown was released.[40] In 1999, Brown was arrested and charged with making terrorist threats toward his wife. Later that year, he was found guilty of vandalism for smashing his wife's car with a shovel.[41] He was sentenced to three years' probation, one year of domestic violence counseling, and 400 hours of community service or 40 hours on a work crew along with a $1,800 fine.[42] Brown ignored the terms of his sentence, and in 2000 was sentenced to six months in jail for refusing the court-ordered counseling and community service. He was released after 3 months.[43][44][45]

Again how is a guy standing silently holding a White and Black gloved hand in the air pissing on anything.

Read about it. The NFL even said it

And snopes confirms it. 2009 is when it became Universal

Actually he doesn't get it and neither do you. Silent protest is an exercise of first amendment rights. It's one of the most American things an individual can do.

You can yell and scream during a moment of silence too, but no one does it out of respect for the deceased. I think of the anthem as the same type of tribute those who fought. The deceased didn't make the policies.

Yeah i do have an ax to grinf to all the people that want to frag a guy doing a right that i have sworn to protect under the "falsehood" it is disrespectful to the same people that protect his right to do it.

YES. Not "force" but to do the same thing in unison, United. Do players where all different kinds of uniforms on the field or do the Bills all match? You do not win anyone over to your thinking by pissing on the flag. These players might have a valid point, but this does not help. Why don't they donate their paychecks to help the people they care about???????
