Not at the table Karlos Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 For as long as I can remember we havent covered the flats. Different schemes and coordinators but still wide open flats, pettine, Schwartz, rex. Why?
BuffalothruMyVeins Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Requires rangey OLB which in a 3-4 you have bulkier guys there, and you need tackling CBs, which nobody ever accused Gilmore of being.
Drunken Pygmy Goat Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 For me, it's the HB delayed screen. Always seem to burn us. Giving up plays to the flats is something that comes naturally with this defense. I think it was before preseason when I said teams would attack us there, and down the seams. That's where you're supposed to attack cover 3 defenses.
TakeYouToTasker Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 For as long as I can remember we havent covered the flats. Why aren't they properly saucing your flats? But they are getting good coverage on you drums? They're doing something weird with your food. Change wing joints IMHO.

ClemsonBills Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 (edited) We also have been using the flats as well on offense effectively this preseason. It's a huge part of the WCO. It's ideal when getting the ball out quick to your playmakers Edited September 1, 2017 by ClemsonBills

K D Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Pats are going to murder us knowing we don't have fast LB's
ExiledInIllinois Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 The flats are sure bullies and kick your butt!
rant_and_go Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 For me, it's the HB delayed screen. Always seem to burn us. Giving up plays to the flats is something that comes naturally with this defense. I think it was before preseason when I said teams would attack us there, and down the seams. That's where you're supposed to attack cover 3 defenses. Those are really hard passes to make. If you're going to give something up, give up those. In the crucial losses last year, I don't remember those plays being a problem. I remember getting killed by the deep ball and giving up a lot of rushing yards. Jauron defenses I remember being weak against power run. Large running lanes. My theory is Bills home field masks a lot of defensive problems because it's so loud and people forget. It explains why the run D sucks on the road.
Big Turk Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 For as long as I can remember we havent covered the flats. Different schemes and coordinators but still wide open flats, pettine, Schwartz, rex. Why? All defenses give up plays in the flats at timse depending on the coverages called. Has nothing to do with this team, its called giving a team something and taking away something else.
KD in CA Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Always preferred the flats to the drums myself. This thread needs a poll.
