sb_bound Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I have been trying to figure out why on earth this is still a positional battle when Ducasse has looked like a complete joke out there compared to Miller. Can anyone shed any light on this? Is this an actual battle for the RG position or is this just getting Ducasse additional playing time to see if they want him on the roster. I know that Ducasse has to be one of the cuts if we are going to get that Comp pick. Maybe the coaching staff is just trying to gauge whether or not he is worth a roster spot compared to the possible Comp pick we could get.
KellyToughII Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Cut both, put Groy in there. But then again I deal in Common sense, seems our OL coach doesn't

But then again I deal in Common sense, seems our OL coach doesn't You want to cut Miller, who was one of the most improved OLmen in the NFL last year, to start a guy that has never started a game at guard in the NFL?

MAJBobby Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Castillo doesn't like Miller, doesn't think he moves well enough or grasps the Zone Concepts, hence trotting out his project in Ducasse. It is a joke that Groy has not been in that competition from the start.
JMF2006 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 VLAD is Bad. I hope they are making more cuts later today. If they don't cut him before PSG4 I bet he goes down and winds up on IR.
thebandit27 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Castillo doesn't like Miller, doesn't think he moves well enough or grasps the Zone Concepts, hence trotting out his project in Ducasse. Which makes absolutely no sense since the team ran zone blocking 50% of the time last yaer
K D Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 The line is a joke. They really blew it with this offense
njbuff Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 This is my major pet peeve with this staff. Miller is a good guard. Find a way to make him fit. Period. The Bills don't exactly ever find good young G's. Now they have one and they are fvcking around with him. Makes no sense whatsoever.

He likes to tinker with the line ALA Marrone
DrDawkinstein Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Miller is good. I hope the Bills are playing Ducasse so much just to protect Miller from possible preseason injuries. Otherwise, this situation is so Classic Bills.

sb_bound Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 I just don't understand what the coaches are seeing that we aren't. Vlad is getting beat like a red headed step child on a regular basis. He has been horrible. I just don't get it.

elroy16 Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Castillo did the same thing in Baltimore. He likes to tinker with the line ALA Marrone That is basically what my coworker, a Ravens fan, said to me when they hired Castillo and signed Vlad. It would make sense if he was good, but damn, he just looks bad.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Have we reached the point in the NFL where it is such a coach's game that scheme trumps all? I was raised to believe that good coach's adjust to the talent available. I'm not sure that is the case at this point. Are we headed towards college basketball like coaching control?
stevewin Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 http://buffalonews.com/2017/08/29/ducasse-miller-still-battling-bills-starting-right-guard-spot/ "Vlad's obviously got a leg up on John, just knowing the system and being comfortable with it and knowing all of what Coach Castillo's techniques are," veteran left guard Richie Incognito said. "John's the young, hungry guy who's started since he's been here (arriving as a third-round pick from Louisville in 2015). So he's fighting for his life right now, and those two guys are still battling it out.
BuffaloFan68 Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 It is a little curious that they make the cuts they do, when they make them. Ducasse has been terrible so far & I would have cut him already right along with Twain Jones. Go Bills!!!!!
oldmanfan Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 This and the Sammy trade are my two main disagreements with the new regime so far. For the life of me I don't see how Ducasse is better than Miller.
