Hameir Wright is a great example of a JB recruiting flub.  What are you talking about?  Boeheim went after Wright hard, and probably had him locked up, until he started to pursue Jordan Tucker and nearly cut off all contact with Wright.  Boeheim was criticized for snubbing Wright (some say Red Autry was particarly opposed) even before Tucker ditched Syracuse for Duke.  JB made a late, desperate push for Wright, but Hameir chose Hop and UW who had stuck with him the whole time.

Of course I don’t think they should offer EVERY player from Upstate when they’re sophomores.  That is ridiculous.  If you follow Syracuse recruiting closely, however, you would know that Girard is player that should have been offered before Washington and especially Michigan got involved.  Boeheim Needs to do better at locking up the best recruits in his own backyard.

If SU had Wright locked up then they wouldn't have stopped recruiting him hard. If Wright wanted to go to SU then he would be here. You can't force kids to go where they don't want to go.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but it's looking like we should have forced Boeheim out and kept Hop. I'm afraid SU is going to suffer greatly for a long, long time for that decision.

Eh... Cuse has been killed by sanctions.

Boeheim is bringing in a top 10 recruiting class next year and his last 4-5 year run looked poised for something nice

Hopkins can easily come back when Boeheim retires if he wants... happens all the time

Why not ?

Washington isn't Duke or Carolina or Kansas... there have been rumblings he can possibly come back when Boeheim leaves...

its his dream

is it a guarantee, no... but I'm definitely not worried about the future of Cuse hoops

Agreed.  Hop put in his time and was screwed over, IMO.  He was rumored to be the favorite for the USC job a couple years before he left for UW, and turned that down even though he is from Laguna Hills.  He was told he was the heir apparent at SU, and had that stripped away.  No way he comes back, IMO.

Even if he doesn't are you worried about the state of SU hoops?

Washington is a sleeping giant and he will have them as a consistent national power very soon. Not to mention, Washington can pay way more than Syracuse can. He's not going to leave that job.

Again even if he doesn't Syracuse will land a top notch coach...

Sanctions are the only thing hurting Syracuse... they are a blue blood program... they are going nowhere

I'm worried about Syracuse hoops because their Head Coach is 70+ years old and aside from a lucky Final Four run they have been completely irrelevant since fall of 2014.

Let them get their scholarships back... it's tough playing basketball with 7-8 on A team

next year looks to be really really good.

Bazley, Carey, Buddy

Nah, I’m not worried.  Hugely talented recruiting class next year, and 2019 is shaping up nicely.  We will be fine.  And GMac will be a great HC when Boeheim leaves. :D

Tough ...

Should maybe RS next year because Frank is coming back and Carey is coming

not much room for him unfortunately... unless Tyus goes pro and Frank goes shooting guard

What about Buddy Boeheim?  Definite log jam at the guard positions, especially if Battle comes back (and I think he will).  I don’t think they’ll be able to keep Jalen Carey off the court.  He’s very good.  Sadly, I could see Howard Washington transferring.

Buddy aswell...

im not trying to knock his skill either , I figure he will be a big time player by his JR, SR year...

i figured he would maybe RS next year or be a 3 point specialist with 5-10 min of action

think he will have a bigger impact?

I was thinking a possible red shirt year for Buddy as well.  I’m not really sure what to expect from him.  Folks say he is playing really well right now against high quality competition.  Sound, fundamental player.  Good shooter.  I don’t think he’s tremendously athletic.

We shall see.

Im Right with you... he seems like he is fundamentally sound and his teams (Prep and AAU) run better when he's on the court playing

agree hes probably not a very good athlete (for Div1 BBall standards) but his basketball IQ, pure shooting stroke and even his length should help him fit right at home where he was destined to be

Seems a lot like Andy Rautins.
