Mark Vader Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 What is their plan for Groy? Groy can play both Center & Guard, he'll be fine.
Kelly the Dog Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 He wouldn't. But he has talked about how he and Beane spent many hours talking about team building philosophy. This is what they were around in Carolina. So far they have stayed pretty close to that model. Sure. But they had a great center there. That one example doesn't at all say to me they value the center position more than anyone else would. But I understand what you are saying.
MAJBobby Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 (edited) Groy can play both Center & Guard, he'll be fine. But not here with this staff. He has stictly been at center Edited August 26, 2017 by MAJBobby
KellyToughII Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I think he suits the zone scheme actually. Interesting to see the numbers and see what they do with him and Groy.... if they are both in your best 5 I think you have to think how you get them on the field.AS As for as Groy... move to guard and backup center?
GunnerBill Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 As for as Groy... move to guard and backup center? Groy might end up at left guard if Richie is let go after this year. Who knows?
WhitewalkerInPhilly Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I like the move two depending on how much it is That's where I am, especially if it nudges the cap for a big FA
DJB Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 (edited) 21.275 million over two years Edited August 26, 2017 by DJB
MAJBobby Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 That's where I am, especially if it nudges the cap for a big FAGo back one page all there
GunnerBill Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Sure. But they had a great center there. That one example doesn't at all say to me they value the center position more than anyone else would. But I understand what you are saying. Well they wouldn't pay a bad one.... of course. But if they think they have a guy they like there they are going to pay them to retain them. This deal is entirely consistent with that. Wasn't meant as a criticism. The Panthers model made a Superbowl two years ago.
JohnC Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Eric Wood is a good player with good character who is the model type person that McDermott frequently states that he wants on his roster. He's not coming cheap but the length of the contract makes it a smart deal for the team. Wood is the type of player, as is Kyle Williams, who you want them to experience a turnaround that they so deserve to be a part of. I'm not sure that Kyle Williams can get there but I think that Wood can. Eric Wood has stated that the most inspirational player on the team is Kyle Williams. He pointed out that when Kyle talks everyone listens. This was a good move and the right move.
MAJBobby Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 21.5 million over two years No no no 16M for 2 years in new money. Then add this year. It is a three year contract.
Big C Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I hope they are affording this by cutting Ducasse this week.
BillsFan4 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 So should we start to try groy out at rg then This was my first thought as well. He can't be worse than Ducasse...
Buffalo Barbarian Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Du.....du........Ducasse, mich Lol, Rammstein!
offsides#76FredSmerlas Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I'm shocked Groy is not at guard, play your top 5. If Groy gets hurt then pick up a back up center.
GunnerBill Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I'm shocked Groy is not at guard, play your top 5. If Groy gets hurt then pick up a back up center. Urbik just got released..... haha.
EmotionallyUnstable Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 They paid big for an injury riddled, aging interior lineman. I guess he is one of "their guys"
Buffalo Barbarian Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 So should we start to try groy out at rg then Ducasse is horrible and the staff keeps trying him over Miller, so what does that say about him? Groy can't be any worse, but it's our OTs that concern me.
KellyToughII Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Groy can play both Center & Guard, he'll be fine. Mark, I am thinking RG since they can't make up their mind on the two there. Kid can ball. I am not upset with this. I think Wood could do well with this system
