John from Riverside Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I like the move two depending on how much it is
JimKellyTryouts Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 (edited) I always like it when a player can play his full career with one team; he and Kyle have dealt with the same number of ridiculous coaching and management changes over the years, unfortunately. Â Let's wait and see what the cost is, and if not by this year, next year we'll have to figure out what will happen with Incognito, Groy, and the mystery at RG. Perry Turtle Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I thought the Bills weren't going to sign injury prone players.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 @buffalobills Beane on Eric Wood's extension: "We think he's still playing well, a leader up front. He's part of what we're building going forward." 5:57 PM - 26 Aug 2017
baskingridgebillsfan Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 at his age two years is perfect. I think that puts richie and him at 3 years left. buys them time to address other needs. I am not sure how Groy isn't given a chance at right guard.
MAJBobby Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 (edited) So a two year 16M extension  Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) 8/26/17, 5:06 PM #Bills C Eric Wood signed a 2-year extension worth $16M in new money with an additional $5.275M this year, source said. Locked up.  8M AVV in new money  Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) 8/26/17, 5:08 PM For #Bills C Eric Wood, he got a $6.5M signing bonus and a $1.75M roster bonus due in 5 days, source said. $14.2M in total guarantees.    Lot of Money for Wood IMO. Specially after Groy new contract. Only like it if you move Groy to OG Edited August 26, 2017 by MAJBobby

This is entirely inkeeping with what Beane and McDermott have been part of in Carolina.... they value and pay their center.
JimKellyTryouts Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Â Thing is, Kyle Williams has been great his entire career. Wood has been mediocre at best. Yeah, I wasn't comparing their on field production as much as their tenure with us and being those "lunchpail" fan favorites. Â But with that being said, Wood's worst years were with Marrone and the horrid guards around him, with a guy like Richie (or even Levitre) he's been much better - no coincidence
Kelly the Dog Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 This is entirely inkeeping with what Beane and McDermott have been part of in Carolina.... they value and pay their center. Why would McDermott have anything whatsoever to do with what the Panthers did with or especially paid their center?
OldTimeAFLGuy Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Well, that was completely unexpected. ...spread the cap hit and foresee him as a backup in 2018+ is the only sense here.....
MAJBobby Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Why would McDermott have anything whatsoever to do with what the Panthers did with or especially paid their center? Beane would have a bit to do with it seeing he was their cap guy
GunnerBill Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Why would McDermott have anything whatsoever to do with what the Panthers did with or especially paid their center? He wouldn't. But he has talked about how he and Beane spent many hours talking about team building philosophy. This is what they were around in Carolina. So far they have stayed pretty close to that model.
Kelly the Dog Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 ...spread the cap hit and foresee him as a backup in 2018+ is the only sense here..... This wasn't a restructure. It was a full two year extension. It will be for starter money both years
MAJBobby Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Likey really is a two year 14.2M deal (guaranteed) and the third year is a throwaway. But that is a hefty contract for a guy at the end of his career when no dropoff is seen with Groy playing
