Wayne Cubed Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Only traded for him a few months ago but... @MikeGarafolo Patriots are releasing DE Kony Ealy, source said. Tried him in their scheme. Not a similar style to Ninkovich so it didn't work out.

Wayne Cubed Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Didn't they give up a 2nd They swapped their 2nd for Carolinas 3rd. Only dropped them a couple spots.
co_springs_billsfan Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 They swapped their 2nd for Carolinas 3rd. Only dropped them a couple spots. Yeah, only dropped 8 spots, so not a huge deal. So much dated material in this article about the trade when it happened: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000792321/article/carolina-panthers-trade-de-kony-ealy-to-patriots "entering his prime", "proper fit", "GM Dave Gettleman one of the best around"
BillsFan4 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Didn't they give up a 2nd Kind of, but not really. They gave the panthers a 2nd (pick #64) and got a 3rd (pick #72) and Ealy. So really, they just traded back 8 spots in the draft for Ealy.
FluffHead Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I did read that he lost his starting spot on a couple different occasions under McDermott
26CornerBlitz Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I did read that he lost his starting spot on a couple different occasions under McDermott Had a few nice plays in the SB against DEN and his game regressed the next season.
3rdand12 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I did read that he lost his starting spot on a couple different occasions under McDermott I did not know that. also kinda surprised Pat did not try to get something/anything for him
26CornerBlitz Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 I did not know that. also kinda surprised Pat did not try to get something/anything for him They did with no takers.
Buffalo Boy Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 He was a disappointment here. Played lights out in the SB and then..??????
3rdand12 Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 They did with no takers. thats painful for Ealy and the Pats then
MAJBobby Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Sure sign him. He replaces Ryan Davis as depth and we get our 3rd round comp pick.
BADOLBILZ Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Ahem. #Badol foresaw this in a thread here last week. Would be a very worthwhile low risk pickup.......elite pass rusher traits.......right scheme.......playing for a contract.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 thats painful for Ealy and the Pats then He'll get a shot elsewhere, maybe with the Bills since both Beane and McDermott have familiarity.
JoeF Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 http://boston.cbslocal.com/2017/03/17/what-went-wrong-with-kony-ealy-in-carolina/ Rumors were that he was not exactly into the process in Carolina. Doubt McBeane will even raise an eyebrow.
Wayne Cubed Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 He's subject to waiver isn't he? Doubt he clears waivers for the Bills to grab him anyways.
MAJBobby Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Kind of, but not really. They gave the panthers a 2nd (pick #64) and got a 3rd (pick #72) and Ealy. So really, they just traded back 8 spots in the draft for Ealy. So Ealy value then equates to 35 points according to the chart so essentially a 5th round pick. No 142 to be exact.
HappyDays Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Weird, I thought Belichick was a perfect evaluator of players and could do no wrong.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 He's subject to waiver isn't he? Doubt he clears waivers for the Bills to grab him anyways. Yes. Not a vested NFL vet with only three years in.
