Hurricanes Show Why Drones Are the Future of Disaster Relief:

When it comes to assessing damage and spotting people in distress, drones may be hard to beat.

Tesla remotely extends the range of some cars to help with Irma.

Tesla sometimes sells cars with more hardware battery capacity than is initially available for use by customers, offering the additional capacity as a subsequent software update. For example, Tesla has sold Model S cars rated 60D—the 60 stands for 60kWh of energy storage—that actually have 75kWh batteries. Owners of these vehicles can pay Tesla $9,000 to unlock the extra 15kWh of storage capacity.

But last week, Tesla decided to temporarily make this extra capacity available even to Floridians who hadn’t paid for the upgrade to ensure they had enough range to get out of Florida ahead of Hurricane Irma. A Tesla spokesperson confirmed the change to Eletrek. The extra 15kWh should give the vehicles an additional 30 to 40 miles of range.

Presumably, their vehicles will get a downgrade once hurricane season is over.

That was a great gesture, but what else can Tesla control remotely?

Message from Gov. Ricardo Rosello praising the US government response to his island's needs

If any of you have read anything besides the NFL Follies, you would see the painfully obvious attempt by the "mainstream" media to make it seem that Trump's White House has been "ignoring" Puerto Rico.

It is not true of course. But you can actually see the narrative trying to be forced, to compare Katrina and this.

They are empty of any thought or intellect, they are stuck with the same old, tired playbook.

Watch this Trump/Puerto Rico falsehood grow in the next few days, as they turn from the kneeling 'heroes' to whatever they can grab next.

This “the White House is ignoring Puerto Rico” line that has popped up tonight is a brazen and cynical lie. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/09/23/puerto-rico-aid-hurricane-flooding-243061

of course because if Trump is not tweeting about it, the WH or Federal govt is not thinking about it.

You think it's a joke, but this is actually the argument.

I received email @ work... The Corps is looking for people that speak Spanish to send down there to PR.

We are already a man down w/the lock crew. A lock operator has been in Afghanistan for almost year... Helping out.

I think they are only allowing one person from each lock and dam to go to Florida for Storm Duty. Our site is already sending one guy. One of our crew is from PR, retired Vet. We'd be really shorthanded and hemorrhaging OT bad if he took TDY.

'Apocalyptic' devastation in Puerto Rico, and little help in sight

Gov. Ricardo Rosselló said the nation faces a humanitarian crisis. He urged Congress to approve a commensurate aid package as the US commonwealth, already hammered by a prolonged economic crisis, tries to get back on its feet.

The governor joined others in emphasizing that Puerto Rico's residents are American citizens.

"We need something tangible, a bill that actually answers to our need right now," he said. "Otherwise, there will be ... a massive exodus to the (mainland) United States."

Did you read the article? That headline is typical of CNN. In the article:

"President Donald Trump has pledged federal help for Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. A White House official said Trump is planning to visit Puerto Rico, but a date has not been set because of infrastructure concerns on the island.
Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert and FEMA administrator Brock Long were traveling to Puerto Rico, according to White House press secretary Sarah Sanders.
"The federal response has been anything but slow," Sanders said. "There's been an unprecedented push through of billions of dollars in federal assistance."
Airplanes and ships loaded with meals, water and generators have been arriving or are headed to Puerto Rico and other affected Caribbean islands, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said in a statement. More than 10,000 federal employees are in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin islands helping with research and rescue efforts and moving goods, FEMA tweeted."
