T-Bomb Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Who would you rather: Fitz + Stevie or Tyrod + Matthews? I mean, that is a no brainer... We already know what Fitztragic and Stevie get you, we don't yet know what Taylor and Matthews will bring.
MarkyMannn Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Players play for contracts, not teams anymore. Stevie just looking for a another $$ fix at career end. Don't blame him, but don't be fooled that its kumbaya For sure. Didn't we learn from Boldin?
Beast Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 (edited) I have a soft spot in my heart for Stevie but.......no. Edited August 24, 2017 by Binghamton Beast
BillsfanAZ Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 No thanks on Johnson. He doesnt fit what the Bills want in a player. I would rather the Bills keep Shorts on the team rather than Johnson.

Don't blame him, but don't be fooled that its kumbaya Was that also true when Stevie took well below market value to re-sign with the Bills? There are lots of players who take less to play for certain teams.
BillsfanAZ Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Was that also true when Stevie took well below market value to re-sign with the Bills? There are lots of players who take less to play for certain teams. Lets not forget that he was guaranteed 20 million and 25 million of his contract had to be paid in the first three years. Front loaded. This for a WR that was good but not great.
PromoTheRobot Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 I love Stevie personally but don't want him back. I'd rather roll with younger guys like Sheets and Lewis.
billykaykay Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 If he will sign for Vet minimum then sure CBF We have a couple of young free agent WR's that have looked good. I say - let them play.
Hapless Bills Fan Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Seems like he is interested based on his last tweet. I think he could still be a productive slot at age 31. https://mobile.twitter.com/StevieJohnson13 I think he wants a hat. Any hat. And he figures if the Bills were willing to pay Anquan Boldin $1.75 million after his last season in Detroit showed 36 ypg, 8.7 ypr, 70.5% catch, then maybe they'd like to toss a little $$ the way of Stevie J, whose last season with Sandy Eggo saw 49.7 ypg and 11 ypr, 69% catch. There are crazier notions, actually, but I'd like to see us look further and harder. SFO and SD may have taught Stevie a new work ethic that involved blocking hard and being willing to take a hit and fight for extra yards or come back to the ball - or not.
BringMetheHeadofLeonLett Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Looks like I'm in the minority here, but I could see it working. Let Stevie freelance into the soft spots, which could give Tyrod a bonus outlet when he breaks the pocket. Probably take several games to really come together, but might just work... surprisingly well.
NoSaint Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Was that also true when Stevie took well below market value to re-sign with the Bills? There are lots of players who take less to play for certain teams. I'm not sure how substantially below he was. What did you peg his market value at?
C.Biscuit97 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Honestly, SJ is one of the few things that would get me excited about his team this year. I don't think he would do much but I like SJ and it would make me happy. This is going to be a Jauron like season.
4_kidd_4 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Sure, bring him in to drop some more critical passes. He can be the tank driver.
JimKellyTryouts Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 So if he signs and proceeds to drop another game-winning pass, will this board's tankmasters be happier?
QuoteTheRaven83 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 But with noodle-armed Fitz as QB, the majority of his receptions were quick short hits. Stevie didn't have deep speed. You must've missed the couple times he burned Revis deep
C.Biscuit97 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 So if he signs and proceeds to drop another game-winning pass, will this board's tankmasters be happier? Stevie Johnson is the only receiver who ever dropped a pass. Fact.
turftoe Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 No thanks. Acted like a child most of the time. He even blamed God for dropping the TD pass against Pittsburgh.
4_kidd_4 Posted August 24, 2017 Posted August 24, 2017 Stevie Johnson is the only receiver who ever dropped a pass. Fact. It wasn't the big drops in the spotlight that made me dislike the guy, it was the constant excuses and lack of personal accountability. God, the throw was off, the way my body was turned, the catch was harder than it looked, and so on. But I say bring him back, so we're one player closer to a top five pick in 2018.
