K D Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I like Zay. He needs to work more on body control and keeping feet in bounds to take it to the next level
Paul Costa Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Shorts and Reilly are looking good in the games as back end 53's PS players. Hope they keep both
Formerly Allan in MD Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 shorts seems to get a lot of separation. he will probably be practice squad but i hope they keep looking hard at this dude. Yes, PS. Hope we don't have to use more than one of those high picks next year on wide outs. What's the free agent crop look like?
Mat68 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 I like Zay. He needs to work more on body control and keeping feet in bounds to take it to the next level He made the tougher of the two catches. He was literally millimeters from a touchdown on the second 1. Yes, PS. Hope we don't have to use more than one of those high picks next year on wide outs. What's the free agent crop look like? Fairly bleek. The wrs in Watkins class all had the 5th year options picked up.
Mat68 Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 (edited) The health of Streater and Matthews will impact Holmes. If they practice next week Holmes will be cut and and every signing needed to get to the comp 3rder. Edited August 22, 2017 by Mat68
John from Riverside Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Dont be suprised if we dont bring in a boundry wr off of other teams cuts
EmotionallyUnstable Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 He made the tougher of the two catches. He was literally millimeters from a touchdown on the second 1. Fairly bleek. The wrs in Watkins class all had the 5th year options picked up. Wrong. Most have but there are still some pretty big names available. Jarvis Landry, Allen Robinson and Devante Adams are entering contract years. Not to mention, so is Dendre Hopkins. Some decent talent here, but this is why they won't get a big name receiver in 2018 FA. Odell Beckham Mike Evans Kelvin Benjamin Brandon Cooks What do those four receivers have in common? As you said, their team's picked up the 5th year option. But most, if not all, of these guys will re-up with a long term deal next offseason IMO. This will continue to drive the price of the receiver upward and teams must continue to shell out big money, even for above average talent. Anyone think McDermott or Beane is willing to break the bank on anybody at this point? Me neither.

Yep I was trying to imply he was wrong that the FA wide receiver group would not be strong. Looks like I missed a few http://www.spotrac.com/nfl/free-agents/2018/wide-receiver/available/

I think they let him play the 5th year option then walk.

Over 29 years of fanhood Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 shorts seems to get a lot of separation. he will probably be practice squad but i hope they keep looking hard at this dude. He seems very good at positioning himself. Was impressed in game one didn't make it far enough into game 2 to see if he did anything.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 My guess: Jones Matthews Holmes Shorts Tate- I wouldn't be they will Reilly Streater- he'll be over the injury Powell suspended
26CornerBlitz Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 @MatthewFairburn Sean McDermott mentioned Brandon Reilly and Daikiel Shorts as two young wide receivers who have flashed and now have an opportunity.
BuffaloSol Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 We will pick up some cuts if we are smart. We have a bottom 5 receiver group right now due to age and lack of a true number 1. We better look long and hard at rbs and wrs during that last cut.
Billzgobowlin Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 18 Andre Holmes 11 Zay Jones 87 Jordan Matthews 89 Brandon Reilly 16 Daikiel Shorts 15 Brandon Tate
GunnerBill Posted August 22, 2017 Author Posted August 22, 2017 18 Andre Holmes 11 Zay Jones 87 Jordan Matthews 89 Brandon Reilly 16 Daikiel Shorts 15 Brandon Tate I kinda think you know what if we are not expecting to be good then keep Reilly AND Shorts. See what they have. You might find a diamond in the rough in one of them. What is the point if you are not gonna compete for the playoffs either way in a Philly Brown? Keep the two young guys and see what they got.
