quinnearlysghost88 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 It shouldn't be in any players vocabulary. But it largely out of the players hands. i mean they have to field a team of players. it's in those players' hands.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 i mean they have to field a team of players. it's in those players' hands. Ergo, we should make sure that they have as few tools as possible. We want #1.
N.Y. Orangeman Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 (edited) No surprise that the players aren't buying into the idea. @MatthewFairburn Eric Wood says 'tanking' is not in the Buffalo Bills' vocabulary: http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/08/eric_wood_says_tanking_is_not_in_the_buffalo_bills_vocabulary.html Neither are "playoffs", "winning" and "championships." CodeMonkey Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 i mean they have to field a team of players. it's in those players' hands. Correct. But all mgmt needs to do is trade players like Watkins, Shady, Wood and the team they field is not likely to do well.
DefenseWins Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 Great, another thread on tanking. Any Bills and Sabres fans here ever want a winning team or just a lot of draft picks? When you haven't made the playoffs in 17 years why not try something new like "Tanking"??? You mean things could get worse???
nucci Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 When you haven't made the playoffs in 17 years why not try something new like "Tanking"??? You mean things could get worse??? have you sat through consecutive seasons of 2-14, 2-14 and 4-12? Yes, it could get much worse
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted August 23, 2017 Author Posted August 23, 2017 have you sat through consecutive seasons of 2-14, 2-14 and 4-12? Yes, it could get much worse What happened AFTER those seasons? Oh, that's right. The longest protracted era of success in Buffalo, that's what. DO IT.
DefenseWins Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 have you sat through consecutive seasons of 2-14, 2-14 and 4-12? Yes, it could get much worse As a matter of FACT, I most certainly have. I saw my 1st game at the Old Rockpile, so you need not bring up this teams putrid history to me. I have seen it all. I was at "The Stadium in Orchard Park" when it first opened. I still have that ceremonial fake coin they distributed to us all at that 1st game. So what's your point??? 2-14 sounds like a good record for the Bills this season. Good as in giving the Bills a good shot at one of those young QB's we hear so much about. I'd be very happy to see that happen. Much better than 6-10 or 7-9....
QuoteTheRaven83 Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 A borderline 30 year old RB with a lot of miles on him, we wouldn't get more than a 3rd rounder for him. I'd be shocked if we got a 2nd.
DefenseWins Posted August 23, 2017 Posted August 23, 2017 The side benefit to trading Shady to Tampa Bay is that we play them this year and probrably guarantees that the Bills lose that game....

My point is that it is difficult to come back from those kinds of seasons....fans stop attending games, buying merchandise, people stop caring....and it's very depressing and not much hope watching a team lose that much.
HappyDays Posted October 1, 2017 Posted October 1, 2017 They have been steadfast on this. They will try and win now without sacrificing the future. People want to believe teams try to lose, then you have the Jets going 2-2. No one in the league is trying to lose.
Pine Barrens Mafia Posted March 10, 2018 Author Posted March 10, 2018 I’ve never hidden the fact I was pro tank, and yes I enjoyed making the playoffs. So what’s your point? 1

Wasn't directed at you. Looking back at some of the comments with the benefit of hindsight is hysterical. It's actually a fun read now.
