Big Turk Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 D looks night and day better playing the 4-3...first team is basically destroying people, we are going to go back to being a force...unfortunately, I think the offense is also going to return to pre-Ryan form and that means we are going to struggle to score points...
Jerry Jabber Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 And the offense is getting ready to go back to pre-Rex form as well.
Buffalo Barbarian Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 So it's 2014 all over again? Just setting up for next years offense.
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 There is no mythical 'mastermind' legacy I want to see dismantled more than Rex's. After all the jets were one of the lousey teams the bills, who were also lousey could compete with. The guy rode his charisma and a bunch of coattails to the bills job where he actually messed up a for the first time in eons favorable trajectory with his own coaching prowess.
H2o Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 So it's 2014 all over again? Only Kyle Orton is not walking out of that tunnel. 2-14.....4-12 @ best
billsfan60 Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Just setting up for next years offense. Smartest post of the night
CDogg20 Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 With the amount of time they're going to spend on the field they're still going to get torched. Really hope the offense can keep t.o.p close but I dont see it happening
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I agree. Not sure why people are pessimistic about this season. The D will be outstanding. If we can run the ball a little on O, we are going to be in every game. Not going to be pretty, but could be a 8-9 win team.
Boatdrinks Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I'd be surprised if this D finishes ranked in the top 20.
vincec Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I'd be surprised if this D finishes ranked in the top 20. I wonder about this too. The scheme may be a better fit but the talent level is no where near what it was 3 years ago.
K D Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 We have serious question marks in the defensive secondary. I'd hold off on any predictions about our defense
Webster Guy Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 the Dine is just as good and our LB's were average then, as they are now. if you're referring to gilmore being a huge loss, wait and see how Trey does at corner this year. I watched him a ton at camp, he's really impressive, expect a year like Darbys rookie season.
Big Turk Posted August 21, 2017 Author Posted August 21, 2017 I wonder about this too. The scheme may be a better fit but the talent level is no where near what it was 3 years ago. Their front 4 is still terrorizing, and LBs are looking solid... The secondary is a question mark but the scheme should help. Schemes can mask a lot of deficiencies...Wade Phillips has been doing it for years... We have serious question marks in the defensive secondary. I'd hold off on any predictions about our defense They aren't playing man defense...they will be fine. The DLine isn't going to give QBs much time back there
BillsfaninMyrtleBeach Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Hughes will be a monster again, secondary will be the question mark. Linebackers.....????? Too many unknowns to make a statement.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 You guys forgot about our defense the last few years. It has to be much better.
87168 Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Just setting up for next years offense. everyone keeps thinking it's that easy.
aristocrat Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Finally. A thread about why this team should be better this year. Our run defense was so bad last year it was comical. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thurman#1 Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 D looks night and day better playing the 4-3...first team is basically destroying people, we are going to go back to being a force...unfortunately, I think the offense is also going to return to pre-Ryan form and that means we are going to struggle to score points... Yeah, 2018 is starting to maybe look like they might have a strong defense.
Thurman#1 Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 I'd be surprised if this D finishes ranked in the top 20. I wouldn't. They were 19th last year. But I agree, I don't see huge improvements this year. The line looks good but other than that we look OK and have little depth.
