Wasn't that his natural position?

No. He played center in college at Tennessee and was a left tackle in Denver.

Teague is not a RT. LT maybe. But we need a mauler next to him at LG. At least Kendrick Vincent (Pit) hasn't signed yet. Tucker can be an adequate C. The problem really is that we would then have no depth. We should re-sign M. Price, but TD hasn't contacted him. Finally, just wonder if McNally sold TD on the idea that Bannan could be starting LG. He's big enuff, but could he pick up the position fast enough? Not sure. I'd be worried going into next year with the following line...

LT - Teague

LG - Bannan

C- Tucker

RG - Villarial

RT - MW

But I fear that is what our OL will look like. I'd be much happier with the following...

LT - Shelton

LG - Vincent

C - Teague

RG - Villarial

RT - MW

Backup C - Tucker

Backup G - Bannan

Backup T - M. Price

I'd be happy with this line.

If we traded our 3 to AZ for Shelton and got Miami's 3 for Travis, the deal would basically be Travis for Shelton AND a move up 17 spots in the third round.  That would be a better deal than Travis for Shelton straight up, with the only negative being that Travis would be in our division to haunt us.

I doubt that the Cards would trade Shelton for a #3 but, ahem, they are the Cards. Even though I would hate to trade Travis to the Fins, and stated so a half hour ago, if we could then get Shelton for it I would pull the trigger. Maybe just toss in Josh Reed to the Cards to sweeten the pot. We don't really need Reed and Aiken. Then sign a speed guy.

Nice call Bill.

TB just reworked Pittman, Garner and Alstots contracts. Plus they're looking at Blalock from KC. I would doubt that TB is in the mix right now.

260816[/snapback]

They reworked Pittman? When? I had not heard that. If that's true, then Pittman is there to stay and they will draft one of the three.

They then are out of the market.

has this trade been confirmed or what?

No. It was on the radio. Said Pat had not signed yet, but Vikes had called a press conference any ways, seems it is to tell about the trade. Nothing confirmed yet.

I honestly thought he meant Henry + #3 for Shelton.

Let's step back a seconds. Shelton is worth a No. 1 pick on the free market. There is no urgency for AZ to trade him because he is the starting RT and he is very cheap for the next 4 years. Green doesn't like him, but there's no urgency to move him other than getting rid of a minor distraction.

Henry OTOH, has painted himself & Bills in a corner that teams know that he will very likely be released by Buffalo if they don't get a trade done. That's why there has been no deal for Henry. The longer the functional idiot sulks, the more dried up opportunities for him.

A guy at work heard it on 980.

What would you have posted if someone here had linklessly said that "a guy at work heard on the radio" that Pat Williams had not yet signed with the Vikes and was on his way back to the Bills? :(

Reported on the radio.  It includes a #2 from Minny as well.

Makes you wonder why they still don't have Williams signature either on a contract.

I read it here yesterday.

General manager Bruce Allen needed to trim more than $18-M from the Bucs payroll by 12:01 a.m. Wednesday to comply with the $85.5-M salary cap. He did it by releasing four players and restructuring the contracts of at least six others. Below are estimates of the savings based on information provided by the NFL Player's Association:

Player 2005 cap value New cap value Savings

QB

Brad Johnson $8.55-M Released $4.25-M

WR

Joe Jurevicius $2.94-M Released $2.94-M

DB

Mario Edwards $3.34-M Released $1.6-M

LB

Ian Gold $2.8-M Released $2.8-M

QB

Brian Griese $8.3-M $1.265-M $7.035-M

RB

Mike Alstott $2.83 million $665,000 $1.3-M

RB

Mike Pittman $1.6-M $1.3-M $300,000

C

John Wade $1.75-M $1-M $700,000

RB

Charlie Garner $2.4-M $1.8-M $600,0

Especially after they were the dudes that stole AW away from the Jets last year after he agreed to sign with NY. I don't know if you recal this post, but a very good friend of mine, who is close to the Bills, told me that when AW was in NY, Teddy Cottrell called him (my buddy) for Bud Carpenter's cell phone number because he knew that Bud would have Antoine's number. My friend gave Cottrell the number, Teddy called Bud who gave him AW's cell and Cottrell was able to convince AW not to sign with the Jets so fast. The Vikes flew to NYC that night on Red McComb's private jet and whisked AW away.

Yeah I read that before. Funny as hell. It would deserve them right if it happens to them.
