clumping platelets Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Ok......when I posted yesterday about the salary cap, I was not aware of yet another salary escalator. Who, you ask? COY WIRE His salary for 2005 is now $1.43 million (up from $455,000) Curious number.....why? Well, his salary escalator must have been pegged to the 1st rd RFA tender which is $1.43 million Where does that leave us? I now have the Bills about $5.2 million under the "unadjusted" salary cap of $85.5 million. Now! This may explain the inactivity
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Are you friggin serious? So...what you are saying is we cant make ANY FA moves? Clumpy, maybe you should stop updating for awhile...you are going to have a couple of poster's suicides on your hands

BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 260361 Out of curiosity though...would we get any relief by simply cutting Coy Wire? I checked under your page, but it had his old cap # on there...I'm wondering if it could be as simple as just cutting him along with Pierson to free up some money.
scribo Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Isn't that a bit expensive for a safety who is unlikely to ever become a real starter? No wonder TD hasn't brought anyone in yet.
Rico Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Now that Drew, Pucillo, & Reese are gone, Coy Wire is the last of the real, 100% bona-fide dead weight on the roster... $1.43M for a special teams player is ridiculous.

BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 YepI haven't updated the cap page yet.....that will come this weekend 260374 Phew...thats a relief then. See Rudy, put down the gun...things arent SO bad...quick, someone get to Rudy's place before he has a chance to read this.
Dan Gross Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 YepI haven't updated the cap page yet.....that will come this weekend 260374 Slacker.

As we keep seeing, there are ways around the cap. Look at the skins and Raiders. If TD wants to sign someone, he can do so. Oakland ended the season 3mil over the cap. Traded for Moss, sucked up dead cap space for Harris, and then tendered Woodson for 10.5 mil. We are still over 5 mil under the cap...we CAN make moves.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Cut Wire, cut Prioleau. Sign Alex Bannister to be the ST's maven.
Happy Days Lois & Clark Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I cannot comprehent what The Bils front office is thinking by spending an extra million dollars to keep Coy Wire on the roster How long do players such as C Wire and J Reed need before we realize they aren't worth it
