Zyg13 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Matthews does not suck. Clearly the Bills prefer WR's who stay healthy and produce. Over 800 yards and 65 catches in each of his first 3 years. You are right, Matthews does not suck. He is a decent slot receiver. Very exciting!
row_33 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 I can now think about Maybin without getting upset.
John from Riverside Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Just occurred to me...I guess there will be no Gilmore/Watkins matchup now?
Wayne Cubed Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 They can trade both 1st's and a 2nd and a 3rd and still have a pick in rounds 2 and 3 CBF And you think they can find a #1 receiver and another starting CB with those picks? Let's not also forget Kyle is most certainly retiring after this season. They have holes at LB. This team is now MASSIVELY talent deficient.
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 We traded up for Sammy and he is ready to come into his prime. This move will look horrible by the end of the year.

Kelly the Dog Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Just occurred to me...I guess there will be no Gilmore/Watkins matchup now? Nope. But I'm all over the extraordinary possibilities of Chris Hogan against EJ Gaines.
Jamie Muellers Ghost Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 So when do we expect Kyle Williams retirement announcement, and Shady/Woods trades?
thebandit27 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 And tell me, when is the last time you were actually happy with a season's worth of on-field production from this "one of two best offensive players"? Go ahead, I'll wait. With Sammy, it has always been about the prospect and potential of what he can do, and aside from a good/great game here and there, it has never been about what he has actually done or contributed to this team. That's easy: I was really happy when they actually targeted him in the passing game (i.e. the final 9 games of 2015) and he was the most productive WR in the NFL during that time. If you want to say that he wasn't a fit here because they don't throw the ball enough, fine, I can at least accept that line of logic as being somewhat salient. To say that he hasn't produced when given his opportunities is patently false.

Short-sighted. Check back at the end of the season. I bet it is very obvious we got killed in this trade.
Juice_32 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 For the systems we run Gaines and Matthews are good fits. I'd imagine the difference in production (if there is any) is minimal compared to Sammy and Darby. Throw in the value of the picks and I don't understand why anyone is upset.

DriveFor1Outta5 Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 So when do we expect Kyle Williams retirement announcement, and Shady/Woods trades? Why? Are Kyle and Sammy BFF's?
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 So sick of all the system changes and drafting, signing players to fit them.
Augie Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 I'll ask again. If they are moving up for a Qb that'll be giving up picks they have acquired. They will draft a young guy who fans will demand start. There won't be patience. Who the heck is this young QB going to throw to? Shady will be a year older, Cog will be a year older. Wood is probably gone. This seems like a plan to set up a young QB to fail. The parts around a QB are MUCH easier to come by than the actual QB. That said, no guarantees you guess right on the QB, but that's the heart of a team. Without a QB there is little to no hope.

Can someone that's watched Gaines explain why a short-armed, small-bodied CB is a good fit? I really hope it's not just because he can tackle.
Jamie Muellers Ghost Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Do you think a veteran with that kind of pride is going to play through a tank year? Why? Are Kyle and Sammy BFF's?
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted August 11, 2017 Posted August 11, 2017 Beane press conference 4 PM est, not sure why my thread was deleted. Tyrod to the Rams for Goff and Kyle announcing his retirement.
