dulles Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 I'm with them. 2 games one scrimmage perfect. Yep, very little good comes out of those preseason tilts. Go with one home and one away preseason game. Keep things simple and have teams organize scrimmages if they want more interaction with other rosters.
GG Posted August 9, 2017 Posted August 9, 2017 @TyDunne A quick take from Raiders camp for the Bills followers kickin' around: EJ Manuel looks good and there's a p-good chance he'll be the No. 2. The stories from Raiderland paint it more as Cook being really bad than EJ lighting it up

ROONDOGG55 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Any update here? Would like to see the Bills add a gadget player to fill in as a return specialist and WR/RB from time to time. What about a guy like Dexter McCluster, or D'Anthony Thomas? Is there anyone out there like that on the roster bubble?
GunnerBill Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 (edited) The stories from Raiderland paint it more as Cook being really bad than EJ lighting it up I watched EJ's snaps from the pre-season game 1 last night. I was on the bike in the gym and needed something to occupy my mind... so I flicked the Raiders highlights on. My observations were that he seemed to get the ball out MUCH quicker. Even when he was playing at his best in pre-season here we had the famous EJ double ball pat. Against the Cardinals the ball was in his hands and then out again. Also he is still a guy who struggles to hit the deep ball. He played much better than Connor Cook though. Looks very much like he will still be a #2 QB in the league this year. Good luck to him. Great kid. I'm just glad it isn't our season that might be on the line if EJ comes in. Edited August 15, 2017 by GunnerBill

He got thrown in too early and even though his ceiling was never high to begin with, I always felt like he gave it his all. Just wasn't good enough as starter.
The Frankish Reich Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 He's doing amazing I hear on the midfield QB sneak... I knew Rex was ahead of the curve with that Hard Count Specialist thing! I'm with them. 2 games one scrimmage perfect. I'm with them too (moving to a 2 game preseason) ... not only does it save us from junk football, it also tends to even the playing field as the cream doesn't tend to rise to the top until units have had time to practice together for a couple months. That's good for the Bills! I recall watching the 49ers last year in a Week 1 evening game and thinking, "this team ain't so bad." The less talented/less prepared teams have a better chance under this scenario. (Maybe someday I'll be able to say the Bills fall in the more talented and/or better prepared category and I'll hate this. I'm not holding my breath.)
MarlinTheMagician Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 Very happy for EJ. He needs to hold a clip board for a couple years.

What about a guy like Dexter McCluster, or D'Anthony Thomas? Is there anyone out there like that on the roster bubble? Cyrus Jones is on the bubble in NE. He has been horrible for them in coverage and on returns. Talented kid, if he is cut I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a fresh start somewhere else. Another Bama second rounder on the outside looking in.

For a second I thought this was an EJ Manuel thread. Lol I wouldn't mind a guy that can contribute as a CB and return specialist, but I saw that he can't really do either effectively.
