H2o Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 So, I've been a Bills fan for almost 30 years now. Never been to an NFL game though. It's only a little over an 8 hour drive from where I'm at in VA. I have always wanted my first game I see to be at the Ralph. Probably leave Friday evening, stay at a hotel Saturday, and head back after the game on Sunday. Would love to catch up with some of you all when I get there.
PromoTheRobot Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 The Saints are not a big draw in Buffalo. You should have your pick of seats, or even get a deal on StubHub or NFLTicketExchange

You should have your pick of seats, or even get a deal on StubHub or NFLTicketExchange As far as time frames that was probably my best option for me. I thought it also would be a game where I would have a chance at better seats at this point and time. If we are still in the hunt I would expect it to be a packed house.
mead107 Posted August 6, 2017 Posted August 6, 2017 Keep your Eye open for pinned thread on Parking at Hammers. We do one start of week befor each home game after the TBD home opener tailgate party. Sent you a pm.

I live in Richmond and that's a rough ride after a game..have to figure out of the lot no earlier than 5 Pm. If in Northen VA, doable. If Central, Western, or Eastern, consider getting a hotel say in Altoona to be safe( if driving 99)

Virgil Posted August 7, 2017 Posted August 7, 2017 Why not just go to the panthers game? Or even the preseason ravens game? I'm assuming the two-for of a bills game and being in New Orleans. Either way, the visit to the Cap is worth it. Especially after 30 years a fan. That's crazy

You absolutely will not regret it, I drive about 6 hours to make it to the Ralph but it's so worth it. Might be my favorite place on earth
plenzmd1 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 (edited) I'm about 30 minutes south of Richmond in Hopewell OKay, I am in Richmond and can tell you I would never do that drive after a game if it involves me driving. This thread will explain why i no want to drive after a game https://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/195013-how-much-money-do-you-spend-on-alcohol-a-month/page-2 Having said that, i think absolute best you could do after a game is figure 9 1/2 hours from when the game clock hits 0:00 . And that would be figuring out which lot gets you to 219 the fastest, and I am sure someone one here could help, just not me. I am always on the other side of the stadium either at Hammers or ECC, and ya ain't making it to 219 fast from there! My guess would be the Mud Lot, but I have heard people talk about lots on California, sure someone on here would know what work best. Then you could walk from there to tailgate at Hammers pre game. But here's my suggestion. It's your first NFL game, do it right. Instead of leaving Friday night, leave early Saturday AM, say 4:30. That way you can drive through DC and save 30 minutes over going 17 to 66 etc , and not have a hotel Friday evening. From Hopewell think you can do it in 8 1/2 leaving on that schedule, arriving around noon. Perfect, still have a full day! Stay over Sunday night so you can do the full tailgate after the game and park at Hammers. To me just as important as the pregame tailgate, maybe even more fun. Nothing better celebrating a win that having a few pops and making [post game snacks as the traffic dies and you talk about all the plays again. BTW, to do it truly right, take Friday and Monday off, leavr Hopewell about 6am Friday, get to Buffalo about 3Pm going the 17 to 66 route, and head to the Sabre game at 7!
