just covering all the basics y'all. a very self indulgent play list LOL glad to be here. GO BILLS

Im enjoying this to no end mateys :-)))))

outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!

I am digging on the SRV and BB tunes.

My wife is a huge Prince fan, me not as much, but I am impressed by his showmanship, and his prowess as a musician though.

It was kind of funny the reaction from  our daughters, when Prince passed. They both called their mother, within minutes of each other, to console her as if she had lost a close family member. She had already heard about his passing and it wasn't all that for her. I mean she was sad of course, but their concern for her emotional well being astounded me. I asked the girls later why they felt she would be that distraught, and they informed me of her obsession with Prince while they were little (before my time in the family, so I never knew about it) the next day I went out and got her a Prince t-shirt that she wears all the time.

On a side note: this thread has me shuffling through old albums, and seeking out youtube vids as representations of favorite songs from these albums. Here's a live version of one from Pink Floyd's UmaGuma album

there is a cool story behind MGMT and specifically their guitar / keyboard player James Richardson. He was a roommate of Loren Humphreys (Ted) and my son for a time. Band members will sometimes sit in as touring musicians with other bands like side gigs.

So Nate was playing with a band again with walter and this time Simon *bass player)  from MGMT. He had on a really cool t shirt I remember and I wasnt familiar with the band  MGMT..so anyway he crashed on our floor on a king size air mattress and the next day I drove em to the airport to return to NYC

James Richardson was in town playing that same gig with a black gibson les paul ICONIC guitar it was beat up but still gorgeous. The guy forgets to take it with him and left it at the venue SMH so my husband had to drive to the venue to pick it up and keep it at our house....That guitar sat in nates room for a year lol

Finally I was asked to please ship it fedex ground back to NY would be reimbursed fees TYVM. I did.

The next time they toured san diego we had primo family of the band seats, and a special backstage birthday party for James. I met his parents and he had delicious cake LOL

anyway this was the show I saw the first time really hearing this band. and james told me for doing him such a favor we had lifetime guest list spots in san diego SWEET.

Now that's a cool story.

Muppy and the missus would get along great! I was sad when both Prince and Michael Jackson died. But the one that hit me the hardest was Tom Petty. In 1979 he was the BOMB all the cool chicks loved Tom and with them come the guys. right?.he was so beloved and sorely missed by many many. Weve lost a lot of  great artists. Not to get maudlin . Going through your albums is awesome we have limited here at the house nate absconded with a lot of them haha

I liked Petty when he was with the traveling wilburys (they were a great band) here's one of my favorites. The empty rocking chair was for Roy Orbison right after he passed.

Man, SRV was just amazing. I don't care what type of music you like - If you don't see SRV playing and just go "wow!" you might be dead. Music just flowed out of him through his guitar - not sure I can describe it any other way.

I'm a huge fan of one of his protégés - Gary Clark Jr. So bummed I didn't get to see him when the pandemic cancelled his tour. Check out this clip, especially when he starts to go off at about 3:30 in...

Ok, since we're drifting to the odd and unusual. This one is for you Muppy (you said you had a thing for Bass players)

They were playing at one of the grassroots festivals, and the wife dragged me in because it sounded like something she could klogg to. I was dubious at first, but after a couple of songs, I came away thinking "man this guy is nuts" and that "I kind of like it".
