Opeth is the only band with the Cookie Monster vocals that I've ever listened to repeatedly. Ghosts of Perdition is an all time great song. Not buying into the I.N.C/Ramones comparison, but any Ramones reference is fine by me. I've probably posted this, but here's another great punkish cover of a classic: And since we're on the subject of punk bands and this site is Buffalo based....is anyone aware that the Goo Goo Dolls started off punk - even had a Ramones themed song - Don't Beat My @ss (With a Baseball Bat) - homage to Beat On The Brat. Regardless early Goo Goo is a far cry from Iris: 3 Quote

I knew and liked the hits but I was listening to other stuff at the time. Cut to 10-15 years ago, a friend burned me (remember CD's?) the box set and I realized the error in my ways. My sons (18 and 21) ended up listening to more Steely Dan than me growing up and they both think their music is great - despite the fact that they both listen to rap more than anything else and I think are amused at most of 'my music'. Good times. 2 Quote

Good times. Well here's a story for you if didn't know of this. These rappers in the video below sampled Steely Dan's Black Cow. And yes ironically they are rapping about the Bronx while in the old Shea Stadium. lol I'll assume this is not your genre of music but don't worry Stella Dan got the last laugh. Nobody from their record label asked Steely Dan for permission to use their sample. So Steely Dan sued the pants of these guys...... any royalty collected of this music went to Steely Dan 1 Quote
