26CornerBlitz Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 @JennyVrentas .@theMMQB 400—the top players in the NFL, ranked. Send outrage, qualms, furor straight to @Andy_Benoit: https://www.si.com/nfl/mmqb-400-nfl-top-players Bills of note: 326 - Cordy Glenn 325 - Lorenzo Alexander 303 - Charles Clay 302 - Kyle Williams 270 - Ron Darby 258 - Sammy Watkins 243 - Eric Wood 189 - Micah Hyde 174 - Marcell Dareus 152 - Richie Incognito 52 - LeSean McCoy
TheElectricCompany Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Interesting list - feeling optimistic that Dareus is a top 75 guy after this year. Be nice to have a guy who is top 10! A few random comments: Michael Bennett - too high OBJ - too low Aqib Talib - too low Alshon Jeffrey - WAY too high...
MooseTooth Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 (edited) If this is from last year no way Watkins should be that high, he shoudn't be ahead of lorenzo for sure (who got like 90th in top 100 players this year) Edited July 25, 2017 by MooseTooth
TheElectricCompany Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Quick glance, I think Sammy is the 24th or 25th ranked receiver on there?
26CornerBlitz Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 If this is from last year no way Watkins should be that high, he shoudn't be ahead of lorenzo for sure (who got like 90th in top 100 players this year) https://www.si.com/nfl/2017/07/24/mmqb-400-player-rankings-explainer Ranking football players is an imperfect science; one position is far too different from the next. To counter that, the criteria for The MMQB 400: Does Player A do his job better or worse than Player B does his job? If it was too close to call, then the Player with the more significant job got the nod. A player’s raw talent, cultivated skill set, and role within his team’s system were taken strongest into consideration. It was all film-based; very rarely were stats a factor. Ninety nine times out of 100, the film shows what the stats tell anyway. The beauty is the film shows it with context.
26CornerBlitz Posted July 25, 2017 Author Posted July 25, 2017 Feel like wood doesn't belong and Hughes belongs. Quite possible he will after a season in the McDermott defense at DE.
dave mcbride Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Interesting list - feeling optimistic that Dareus is a top 75 guy after this year. Be nice to have a guy who is top 10! A few random comments: Michael Bennett - too high OBJ - too low Aqib Talib - too low Alshon Jeffrey - WAY too high... Michael Bennett is not too high. He is one of the best players in the league. Just my opinion, of course. Feel like wood doesn't belong and Hughes belongs. Hughes was terrible in the second half of last season (he had a strong start).
TheElectricCompany Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 Michael Bennett is not too high. He is one of the best players in the league. Just my opinion, of course. He's certainly one of the most versatile players, just think he's more a "jack of all trades, master of none" type player.
Rico Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 It'll be great if Micah Hyde plays that well, still surprised the Packers let him go.
Royale with Cheese Posted July 31, 2017 Posted July 31, 2017 I'm a little surprised that Taylor isn't on that list at all. They have Bradford, Tannehill and Alex Smith above him.
dave mcbride Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 He's certainly one of the most versatile players, just think he's more a "jack of all trades, master of none" type player. I respectfully - and completely - disagree. https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-seahawks-de-michael-bennett-is-still-underrated
Fixxxer Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 odd, I used the search option and didn't show that thread.
eball Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 It's an opinion list -- nothing more -- and debating these "rankings" is an enormous waste of time.
Maury Ballstein Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 Michael Bennett is a stud. McCoy should be higher.
Alphadawg7 Posted August 8, 2017 Posted August 8, 2017 If this is from last year no way Watkins should be that high, he shoudn't be ahead of lorenzo for sure (who got like 90th in top 100 players this year) This isn't a list about healthiest players of last year. Its the top 400 players today in the NFL and on talent alone, Sammy is a top 10 WR in the NFL.
