Can I ask, what is Kodi? Can I safely Google it w/hitting the Deep Web? Will I be arrested?

No, not you. You're not allowed

I went to Wiki to get a clue, but left even more confused..... :(

Same here. I Googled and got "open source home theater"...I gave up.

Open source home theatre sums it up pretty well

Kodi started maybe 15 years or so as the XBox Media Centre. In your Googleing you may have run across the acronym XBMC

Back in the day everybody downloaded movies, pictures, and music to their PCs and laptops. Getting the content from your PC or laptop to your TV could be a challange so Microsoft came up with the idea of a centralized media centre. First with the short lived Windows Media Centre then as part of their gaming platform on the original XBox and onto the XBox360. The idea being your media is shared from your Windows based computer onto your home network and made available to your TV via the XBox

XBMC never really took off and the project was abandoned and Open Sourced. From there the Linux community took over and began the evolution from XBMC to Kodi.

Media could be stored on the computer that XBMC (later renamed Kodi) was running on, shared on your local network, or even on a remote server somewhere. Media could then be played back on your big screen TV via the Kodi interface

Then came The Cloud. Now you can watch TV on the internet. Go to your favorite TV network's website and get a live stream. Watch ESPN online. HBO. Porn sites. Video feeds everywhere

Instead of hooking up a laptop to your TV and watching it thru a web browser, Kodi provides a platform that centralizes your local media, shared media, remote media, and streams from the cloud

There are several official Kodi add ons to watch publicly available TV shows, movies, and live streams. Since Kodi is Open Source there are also a large number of "unofficial" add ons as well that tap into non-publicly available streams and media sources

These unofficial addons are what has made Kodi so popular the last few years

Kodi is available on Android, Apple IOS, Linux, Windows, Raspberry Pi, and I think the Mac fanboys have a port as well. Amazon FireTV/Firestick is a derivative of Android TV however it is not available on the Amazon app store. That said it is possible to install on FireTV/Firestick via a process known as sideloading. Unfortunately Kodi is not available on a Roku.

Why did I not get a telegraph about all this. I have been having issues with my phonograph. Could this be related? :)

A little while before they went dark, TVAddons, which I used to install kodi on my Firebox, was running script on the Kodi main screen page which said the format which many video's were in was something different than it used to be and you had to upgrade to Kodi V17.1 to support it. I have been too busy (lazy) to upgrade my system but that may be the issue some are having. I have noticed a few of Bob's links say the video is not playable.

I still recommend the Bob channel. Until recently it always had a high success rate when trying to watch something.

didn't know that about TVAddons.

Exodus has been having issues since TVAddons went dark because they were sued by Dish/Sling

There's supposed to be a 'replacement' to Exodus called Covenant maintained by the same development team. I haven't tried it yet.

I've been using SALTS lately (Stream All the Sources):

just came across this article, not sure how much of it is real and how much is fear mongering

Probably a lot of it.

Which is a shame.

Preseason Game 1

Ran like a champ until about 7:30 then went dark. Stream came back sometime between 8:00 and 8:30.

Not bad considering it's a stream of a preseason local broadcast rather than a regular season network feed

I got as far as "add on repository." No sign of Pod God.

Another dead end.

ProSport and ccloud both depend on podgod.

If podgod has been removed from Smash it's possible podgod went dark, which would be a bummer

You could try checking SuperRepo, they might still have it

I found pro sports on super repo. Thanks

podgod is project d now

how do you get preseason games live?

"project d" repository is empty and opening it via web browser set off my Antivirus

Found a copy of the repository zip file. meh, Project D doesn't do live streaming but if you want a replay of previous games the Pro Bowl

Another option is to run another app called Mobdro which finds live streams. Lately their CBS and ABC streams have been coming from Buffalo

I bought a firestick with Kodi installed for my daughter to take to college, and been messing around with it for a few nights. Not sure I get Kodi at all. Tried Exodus and clicked Wonder Woman, but could not get that to work either.

The Modbro app was cool as chit though..I like getting all the SkySport channels.

I am going to order one for our house as well now, maybe by Christmas i can figure this Kodi thing out

Exodus is no longer supported and has been replaced by Covenant. Another option is SALTS.
