Hey all! The wife and I are headed to Vegas tomorrow morning for 7 days for a professional conference. We're obligated to do work stuff mon-wed 8-4, but other than that we're free to do whatever. I've searched through the OTW archives, but was hoping for some additional advice about things to do (other than gambling), places to eat, and other stuff.

We're staying at The Mirage. Going to see the Michael Jackson Cirque Du Soliel show. And going to dinner at Aureole. That's all we have planned. Any other recommendations?

I'm not usually a fan of buffets (I take it as a personal challenge to over-eat) , but some friends who live in Vegas took us to the weekend brunch at the Aria (where we happened to stay last time). Wow. It's like $32 and has all you could ask for. It's not like crappy quantity over quality cruise food. And, for another $19.99 you get all the adult beverages you want. That is a glass of wine plus tip at most places. Worth considering if you like that type of thing.

I stayed at the Venetian a few months back but don't know Vegas too well. The pool was wild (at least the Tao part). I think Diplo or someone crazy was playing when I went. I didn't stay too long because I was supposed to be in a conference.

Had a good dinner at Zeffrino (bone in veal chop), a bad lunch at B&B Burgers & Beer, and a good dinner at Bouchon Bistro. We hung out at Emeril's sports bar / sports book too. That was pretty cool the food was okay. We had our own tvs, ate and bet games. We had a hot waitress too who happened to be from Buffalo.

Make sure you partake in the new legal cannabis industry! I guess they are having trouble with supply, though. Even issued a statement of emergency because they were running out

So, like I wasn't crazy enough already....our first stop after the airport last time was to (I think) a large hotel on the south end of the strip on the west side of the road. Our "local" friends who picked us up ordered guacamole and I thought nothing of it. This was the first time I'd ever had AWESOME guacamole! It was like a different food entirely! I was later embarrassed when I realized I'd pretty much made that my own. Changed the way I see things...

And now I've just spent 45 minutes trying to figure out where that was, but nothing seems right. It's not like I'm in town and could just head over there...

Can kill a day just walking around checking out all the casinos

Rides at NY NY, tigers at mirage, Ferrari's at the wynn, circus at circus circus, zip lines at Fremont, free drinks while playing dollar craps at open air casinos

I like watching the bellagio fountains. I could sit there all day. The mirage volcano is cool too.

I usually buy most of my alcohol at Walgreens, I'm sure there are cheaper places but they seem pretty reasonable for the strip.

I just booked my flight there for the sabres game in october and was gonna make a similar thread. Any one stay at mgm recently? Was wondering if there were extra fees on check in besides the resort fee.

Stay hydrated. Have fun!

It's pretty extravagant, but we've taken the helicopter ride into the Grand Canyon a couple times. Amazing! Something you'll never forget. I would have only done it once, but our friends wanted to surprise us with it, so we acted like it was the first time....without ever actually lying (technically?).

Thanks everyone! Any suggestions on favorite sportsbooks? I need to put some money on the Bills to win the Super Bowl, and I'm thinking about throwing some money down on McGregor for the heck of it. Also, is weed really legal for recreational use/sale there? I've seen conflicting information on the internet. Not a big weed guy anymore, but I might take advantage for the Cirque Du Soliel show if it's available. Not willing to buy off the streets though.

We took a small plane like that and my brother and sister got sick ha ha. The views were amazing though.

Also, have a buddy that did that indoor skydiving and the race car experience. He loved them both so you can consider those too.

At night, go to the Pink Flamingo and down on the first level there is a piano bar (kinda like dueling pianos) but they take requests and do a great job. Grab a table, order some beers and relax listening to some good tunes.

"What sharts in Vegas, stays in Vegas."

Throw 'em in the dumpster and get back to that roulette table! :-)

On my way to breakfast about 8:00am one morning, I watched a guy lose over $15k in 15 minutes at a blackjack table. I think he sharted himself on the way out.

He wasn't doing anything stupid or different than the other 2 ladies at the table. The cards just kicked his arse! Every single time! That's a bad start to your day, but being Vegas it might have been the end of his "day"?
