ExiledInIllinois Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Back around 1999... Wife was working @ public library in town. That was the year they phased out the card catalog. Wife organized an auction to raise $$$$... Took old cards, sent them off to get autographs, etc... Authors, illustrators, books about celebs, etc.... People like Bill Gates signed, Eric Clapton, various authors, illustrators. Well, John Holecek is from town, his mother was with the library board and knew we were Bills fans. John had a whole bunch of items from the Bills to auction off... Football, helmet, Bills leather jacket, etc... Big hit, especially the regulation helmet, leather jacket... Pulled in big $$$$ even amongst Bears fans... Not sure if the NFL would have been happy, but a simpler time... Less scuzzy lawyers around.
