VABills Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Favre retiring. That may explain some of GB actions. Basically they are throwing it in and starting over.
nodnarb Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Florio scoops them again!!! 259847[/snapback] Have to admit, profootballtalk is pretty addicting, but it's so hard to go there because the site is so poorly done. i feel like i'm in a romper room of web design amateurs. That site has about every single "DON'T" of Web design.
MadBuffaloDisease Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Favre retiring. That may explain some of GB actions. Basically they are throwing it in and starting over. I just checked and PFT says it's still unknown. The odds are good that he will, but as the article alluded to, I doubt that's made known until after the draft, so that teams don't know for sure if the Pack are targeting a QB (Frye).
Tux of Borg Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 It's always sad to see a great guy/player retire. I feel for the guy who has to follow in his shoes.
Guest BackInDaDay Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Sorry to hear that, but if it's true, he'll be missed. Bet Sherman wishes TD didn't grab JP so fast. His back-up, Pedersen, is a FA, and Mike could be left with no O-line or QB, but it will free up Favre's 6.5M '05 salary.
jarthur31 Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 What's dumb is that GB refuses to draft a QB even if he wants to keep on playing. Why not groom a replacement right now? Who better to learn from?
Dennis in NC Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Last year, I had been hearing a lot about Green Bay wanting to draft Losman as Favre's eventual replacement. And then the Bills grabbed him - I am stoked to see what this kid can do. This is no Todd Collins type of guy!

John from Riverside Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 Another thing of note to those that dont think JPL is ready to start.... Green Bay REALLY wanted this kid....and you can bet that JPL would have been the go to guy this year in this scenario......

Puhonix Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I think seeing a famous sports guy retire is one of Denis Leary's reasons that you are allowed to cry. "And it's very difficult, as a guy, to learn how to cry. You know? It's one of those very tough things. The only time we like to cry is like when a famous sports guy retires, you know? We get one tear, right here it kinda wells up. That's teh only time it's okay. Even your friends go, "Hey, it's just a guy retiring. It's not a movie or anything, he's okay. He's not wearing a dress or a bra, he's fine. It's just a sports guy." You know, that's a genetic thing. I think that's so deep in men--in the DNA--that crying thing. Because we know. We know, even at moments when we're supposed to cry, we just can't bring it out of ourselves, can we? We're just kinda like, (uncertain)"I'm gonna cry . . . (determined) Goddammit, I can't cry, my balls are just too goddamn big, I guess." You know? It's very difficult."
