Nuncha Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 It was a close call when they played Seattle, but I'd have to say never.
TC in St. Louis Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Didn't root for them against the Giants. But I would have been happy to have an undefeated team to shut the Dolphins up. What New England did in 2007 is far superior to the Dolphins season even with the loss. I'm glad you brought that up. I detest the 72 Fins, and hope somebody goes undefeated before all those old bastards die. Their sole mission in life now is to root for another team to lose. Other than that, I root against the Pats every time. I respect Brady and the coach, but I've had enough.
Thurman#1 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Have you ever rooted for the Pats to win a SuperBowl? Super Bowl XX with Tony Eason against the Bears.
GunnerBill Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Despite telling myself I didn't.... I wanted them to beat the Seahawks. Too many people in that Seattle team and coaching staff that really, really grate on me as personalities.
judman Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 The first SB win with a "backup" was a good story, but I didn't ROOT for them. Kudos to those who are honest and have admitted to pulling for them though.
Guest NeckBeard Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 With money on the line (I'd placed a bet on the SB, and betting is something I rarely ever do), I'd bet on the Pats. I wasn't putting a dime on Mike Martz.
KermitMcDermott Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 With money on the line (I'd placed a bet on the SB, and betting is something I rarely ever do), I'd bet on the Pats. I wasn't putting a dime on Mike Martz. This is the only acceptable reason to root for a NE SB win - if you bet money.
Guest NeckBeard Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) It was a close call when they played Seattle, but I'd have to say never. Yes indeed, and I say this as someone who really dislikes both of those teams, but for different reasons. Still, a Pats' loss would've been far more delightful. This is the only acceptable reason to root for a NE SB win - if you bet money. Yup. So, that year, some friends made a pool, and all but two of us thought that the Rams were going to win it. The two of us who'd felt that the Pats were going to win that SB? Bills fans. That matchup reminded us a ton of SB XXV. Edited July 12, 2017 by NeckBeard
Steve O Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 Super Bowl XX with Tony Eason against the Bears. I really liked Steve Grogan. Was hoping he would pull it out off the bench.
DriveFor1Outta5 Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 N E V E R ultimate Fan-hate since 1960 I didn't know that anyone friend or foe cared about the Pats before the Brady era.
CanadianFan Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 (edited) Nope. Not even their first superbowl when Brady was starting. I wanted Rams to win that one. Because Rams were entertaining. And it turns out Pats cheated Rams of that superbowl. And not in ANY superbowl. I really enjoyed the Giants beating them in every superbowl. Edited July 12, 2017 by CanadianFan
Fan in San Diego Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I look at the Pats in the Super Bowl as that I win either way. If they lose I can enjoy their loss. If they win I can say the AFCE is the best division in football.
BillsfaninMyrtleBeach Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 HELL TO THE NO! I WILL NOT EVER ROOT FOR THE PATSY"S!
stinky finger Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 If they win I can say the AFCE is the best division in football. A SB winner and 3 non-playoff teams do not constitute the best division in football.
Rochesterfan Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Admittedly in 2001 I did versus the Rams because they were the underdogs. I regret it now. 1985/86 season versus the Bears - they were so cocky and arrogant- I was hoping somehow for an upset. For the recent run - not really - I liked Drew Bledsoe as QB, but once Brady took over - I have hoped for utter failure ever since.
BobbyC81 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 Admittedly in 2001 I did versus the Rams because they were the underdogs. I regret it now. As Samuel L Jackson might say: "Hell Nah!!
