unbillievable Posted July 12, 2017 Posted July 12, 2017 I'm debating on seeing the 2pac movie. End the debate, it's a work of fiction. Just watch pitch perfect or sing; they're more grounded in reality.
Mark Vader Posted July 12, 2017 Author Posted July 12, 2017 I was just thinking the other day."It's been 6 months and no new Spiderman movie yet" And voila! Also "Atomic Blonde" looks absolutely ridiculous. Hopefully a spoof but I really doubt it. Kind of porn for man hating feminists I suppose. Went to go see "Beguiled" last weekend and they rolled the "Atomic Blonde" trailer out followed by one for the Bobby Riggs vs Biil Jean Kind disaster. Then, we were treated to the "Inconvenient Truth 2" trailer. Lots to look forward to. wtf has happened to Hollywood? Just friggen horrible stuff. So how was "The Beguiled"? Don't worry there is some good stuff coming later in the year.
Dante Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 So how was "The Beguiled"? Don't worry there is some good stuff coming later in the year. It was good. Not great but good. Ended a little soon for me but otherwise a good story reasonably well acted I thought. I remember I saw the original with Eastwood a very long time ago and I remember I liked it but not much more than that. I think I may watch it again to compare. Good premise. Imagine a houseful of women with all the men off to fight the civil war . Then a injured Colin Farell shows up who they have to nurse back to health. The ensuing cat fighting and competition is good to watch. Solid 7/10 and worth seeing imho.

DC Tom Posted July 14, 2017 Posted July 14, 2017 Finally saw Wonder Woman. Was thinking through the whole movie "This movie's good, but isn't as great as people made it out to be...except in comparison to the rest of the DCU, in which case it's phenomenal."

Was thinking through the whole movie "This movie's good, but isn't as great as people made it out to be...except in comparison to the rest of the DCU, in which case it's phenomenal."I'm thinking about watching it tonight. I just finished the jailbreak of the fire stick. I'm going to watch some Yanks/Sox but if it gets one-sided it's Wonder Woman or Transformers for me. I'm a bigger fan of Transformers but hear Wonder Woman is the much better movie.

Was the game close enough for yah!?
Kirby Jackson Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Was the game close enough for yah!?Should have started the movie in the middle of the 9th.
Deranged Rhino Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Finally saw Wonder Woman. Was thinking through the whole movie "This movie's good, but isn't as great as people made it out to be...except in comparison to the rest of the DCU, in which case it's phenomenal." That's a fair assessment. I thought it was enjoyable - but problematic in nitpicky ways. I'm also hearing that Dunkirk is going to amaze people. Some people I trust who saw it say it's going to be what Nolan's remembered for... Of course as they were gushing about it I was laughing in the back of my mind imagining how many historical inaccuracies and flaws you're going to find in it as you watch.
LeGOATski Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Apparently, there was a film with the same title made just 18 years after the Dunkirk retreat: http://www.nytimes.com/movie/review?res=9407E6D8163DE73ABC4952DFBF668383649EDE&mcubz=0
DC Tom Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 That's a fair assessment. I thought it was enjoyable - but problematic in nitpicky ways. One of the things that surprised me was that it's actually a decent anti-war movie, particularly in that it avoided many of the "anti-war-hero" tropes and just portrayed war as hell (as best it could within the bounds of its rating.) I'm also hearing that Dunkirk is going to amaze people. Some people I trust who saw it say it's going to be what Nolan's remembered for... Of course as they were gushing about it I was laughing in the back of my mind imagining how many historical inaccuracies and flaws you're going to find in it as you watch. I found five in the trailer. I'll see it anyway - and drag the wife to it - because 1) It's Nolan, who's a director I implicitly trust, and 2) it looks visually stunning, even for a Nolan movie. It's got to be better than Pearl Harbor, which still makes me viscerally angry for it's craven stupidity. I found the Justice League trailer interesting, too, because there was no Superman in it. I mean, of course he's in it...but nice try, WB, trying to convince us that you actually killed him at the end of Batman v. Superman. You might have fooled a couple of six year olds in the audience.
ExiledInIllinois Posted July 15, 2017 Posted July 15, 2017 Interesting. Dunkirk. Has there ever been a movie before? My mother was born July 2, 1940. My Grandparents saved the Life magazine from the time... Had the evac coverage on the cover. I gotta dig that out. It's somewhere.
