News flash! This ain't back in the day with professional sports now multi-billion dollar enterprises. Also, why should he shut his cake hole while you don't have to?

They had jobs in the offseason because they didn't have $13.3B in revenues to distribute. The advertisers and networks have made everyone rich. They paid those prices because of our interest. Amazon makes a lot more money too as more people use it. It's the same concept.

Exactly.

Watkins is an NFL player and the CBA expires in 3 years. It has nothing to do with Watkins ability. It's about the players piece of the pie.

Sammy Watkins is right. They should get more. NBA players receive 51% of revenue while NFL players receive 47%.

In my company, employees get 27% of the revenues. Should we also get 51%? It would be nice if we did - until the company went bankrupt which would happen quickly.

The NBA pay scale is irrelevant to the NFL pay scale. Two different industries.

The word "should" implies some kind of fairness. Wages in free market economies aren't based on fairness, they're based on market forces.

If they were based on fairness, as I've said before, public servants who do serious work to help their communities would get paid more than athletes and other entertainers.

I am a huge Sammy fan.........beyond the obvious of 4x as many mouths to feed in the NFL.......NBA players are the greatest athletes on the planet.......there are likely MANY of them who could be superstars in the NFL..........meanwhile, you can count the number of NFL players who could fill the last spot on the bench of a turkish pro basketball league team on one hand and still have enough fingers to bowl.

Love the NFL.......but Sammy bitchin' bout NFL contracts is like a porn star bitchin' cuz they ain't getting paid like a super model.

NFL is a dirty little job by comparison.

If I was a young athlete with lots of potential I'd certainly choose the NBA first. Better pay and less violent. Plus easy access as a kid? Only downside is so many fewer roster spots so it's kind of all or none.

That decisions easy for a 6'5 kid today. TE or PF? Always going to the court to practice.

I don't care how much Watkins,Di Caprio, or Led Zepplin make. The problem people have is with the words Sammy used. I would have a problem with Led Zeppelin if Robert Plant came out and said that he deserved to have as much money as Paul McCartney. Sammy is a guy who escaped a bad neighborhood as a youth. Show a little gratitude. The guy claims to be a Christian.

Exactly. You get paid whatever ownership dictates. If you want more you must look elsewhere. If Sammy wants more he needs to play basketball.

for some reason i thought of tyrod taylor.

if taylor was 6'5" he would be one hell of a basketball player

Wrestlers are "farm strong".

whatever you want to call it, wrestlers are strong and it's all about willpower.

Employees aren't the assets in most companies. The players aren't just the staff. It's a unique model. The assets are your liabilities. Edited by Kirby Jackson

You gotta play to get paid Watkins.....

He has played in 77% of the games the Bills have played since he joined the team.

Playing in the NFL is much more dangerous then people realize IMO. Clearly more dangerous then basketball. We are just now learning how much brain damage is occurring from players running full speed like guided missiles into each other and clashing helmets/ heads. The broken bones, knee injuries, neck and spinal injuries, I could go on and on.

I also think much of the charity work by proffessional athletes gets overlooked, Many of the NFL's higher paid superstars along with their teamates give back to the communities in many ways. Visiting children in hospitals, coaching and working with kids in their spare time, inspiring kids to stay in school, get an education.

In many ways Pro athletes are of service to the community in my humble opinion.

If you had to resign Sammy right now what would you pay him?

For me he is not getting paid even close to the top 10 WR's in the NFL.

.... a bit premature question IMO with the foot prognosis being the question.....so as they say in Mizzou, "show ME Sammy and we may be able to show YOU da money"....stay tuned.......besides, I don't think you can compare salaries across all pro sports.....how many NASCAR drivers earn between $15-$25 mil for turning left??................

When he's healthy he's elite. How about letting him play a few game this year before we cut him? I bet if you were the Falcons GM you would have sent Julio Jones packing.

What is your bar for either franchising SW or giving him an elite level WR deal? What has to happen in 2017 for you to support either of those? And is it the same threshold or are there different ones?

Ironic that you tell me I'm "sticking up for billionaires" while you defend a 24 year old multi millionaire who sounds ungrateful. I'll never forget Sammy posting his 9 K worth of chips at a North Carolina casino while he was injured. I wonder how much he lost before he won? If many of these pro athletes would learn better spending habits they wouldn't have to worry about going broke.
