I'm not sleeping on Glennon right now. I dont think he deserved his contract but I think he could live up to it. Super unpopular opinion though.

Same here. Most have completely dismissed him but I think the jury is still out.

Carr says he wanted the deal to be structured so his teammates (Mack, Cooper, etc., etc.) would be around long-term, too.

Has anyone ever said "I don't care about the team honestly"

Imagine if EJ started 0-10?

Come to think of it He wouldn't have made it to 0-5 without everyone calling for his head.

Good for the Raiders who groomed the kid to be a young stud.

Most teams, including and especially ours, think too hard about the greener grass on the other side of the fence.

They are back. The verdict is in. He sucks. Trubisky will be the starter by week 8.

For those keeping score at home, Carr wants $25M a year and for the team to keep all of their best players.

Next good QB up the next biggest contract handed out. Carr might not be as proven as other QB's but he had an impressive rookie year, a breakout second year (Just under 4k yards, 32 TD's and 12 INT's), and then a slightly better third year statically with just under 4k yards, 28 TD's to 6 INT's and all that in 15 games, and he led the Raiders to a 12-4 regular season record a huge improvement from the 7-9 season they had the year before.

Only major negative is after 3 impressive seasons he broke his leg. But since he is on the last year of his deal (which was only 4 years because he was just a second round pick) the Raiders are playing it safe rather than risk upsetting a franchise QB by having to franchise him. Carr being under contract also gives them the benefit of freeing up their franchise tag to use to retain another player. So if someone unexpected has a great year they have the option to keep him.

I think the Raiders were looking to avoid a Kick Cousins type of situation where things can get very contentious between a player and a franchise over contract negotiations. Carr would deserve the franchise QB treatment if he didn't break his leg, but in the modern era that's the kind of concessions you will have to make.

Carr by no metric had an "impressive rookie year" he started to play better the last 4 or 5 weeks and so the Raiders could legitimately feel good about him and he kicked on in year 2 but the start of his rookie year he really struggled. Carr is the poster boy for letting your guy play his rookie year and accepting the results.

The Redskins FO is as dysfunctional as Buff's has been

  • How many times have the Redskins made the playoffs in the last 17 years?
  • How many times has the team won more games than it lost in a season?
  • Have they been continually drafting first round DBs and RBs for the past 20 years only to get rid of them after their rookie contracts rather than pay them?
  • Have Redskins coaching staffs lasted more than 2.6 years before changing out over the last 17 years?

On a dysfunctionality scale, only Cleveland comes close to the Bills FO.

  • Correct. And the Luck contract has doomed the Colts to failure until he is gone.

This is the swing that will happen in the NFL. I can foresee the QB glory being severely diminished. Only large market teams, with the exception of Green Bay due to their heritage, will be allowed to have their QBs call penalties and such like Brady. After a few teams like the Raiders, Ravens, Cardinals, and Colts shoot themselves in the foot with big big contracts to decent QBs, the league take the total spotlight off the QB. It won't disappear but it will be less. The only good QB "strategy" is to only pay a below average salary and build the rest of the roster or strike gold on the rookie contract.

They wouldn't have been able to afford both in their prime if Flacco wasn't on his rookie contract.

This sounds like the prediction that pundits made about 15 years ago about the effect of the salary cap on teams being able to regularly field winning teams. Teams like NE, Pittsburgh, Green Bay, Kansas City, etc weren't supposed to happen. Well, guess what, they still do. Unless the NFL bans the forward pass, teams aren't letting their QBs walk, and so QBs are going to get paid, even if the league has to exempt QBs from the salary cap.

who do we blame for passing on him - DW or "Buddy" Nix?

If Bills signed him the pitchforks would have been out with that many losses. When they say Bills fans are great they neglect part of quote: The Bills fans are great at forming flash mobs,

The Raiders outscored their opponents last year by 31 points. If you take the EJ game out of the equation the Bills outscored their opponents by 41 points. The Bills also had a tougher strength of schedule (at least going into the year, I'm not sure how it ended). The Raiders record is a bit of a mirage. They are primed for regression.

I think the Raiders will fail not because of team but because their home field advantage will be lost. Many will be going to cheer for opposing team and I would not be surprised by fire alarms pulled in hotels by their own "fans".

Brees not being in the playoffs every year due to horrible team building is kind of the point... are the Saints, Colts, etc limited in how much talent they can provide the QB due to the salaries they dump into the QB? What's the optimal percentage of team salary a QB should make so that you can still have a decent team around him? Brady is a perfect example, he takes a lot less money than he could demand, and the Patriots always have such a good all around team (to the point they were 3-1 with their backup QBs last year).

Brady is not taking less money - he is getting money on the side.

These two come down to much more than FO. The answer is though that the Redskins have won more than 8 games four times in the period of the Bills drought and made the playoffs on all 4 occassions - twice with the same 9-7 records that haven't been good enough to get the Bills in.

Considering that for most of those 17 years Washington was throwing a lot more money at players and coaches than the Bills and that they are not in a division with the greatest coach and Quarterback of all time I don't think it is that big of a stretch to say that their FO has been as dysfunctional as ours.

I'm sorry but explain to me again why Kansas City are on this list?

would be so great to sign him. then have two firsts to get some talent around him.

Whaley had a chance on this kid and stayed with his EJ MANUEL boy, Whaley destroyed this team and should have another chance to be an GM in league.

Worst part is that Whaley was groomed under Nix for years and saw how he failed because he didn't draft a QB sooner, and stuck with Fitz...however, when Whaley was relieved of duties he said he wished he had found a QB sooner instead of sticking with EJ...so basically he learned nothing in his time under Nix...what a joke...

Hopefully the current regime is smarter than those two dopes....

Yes, the broke into the playoffs once or twice. Beyond that the Skins have not been a much better team overall that the Bills when it comes to FA.

Washington hasn't been dysfunctional?

RGIII anyone?

The Kirk Cousins tag after tag doesn't raise flags? 2 years ago they could have signed him for 5 years and paid LESS to date for him. His salary from 2015 through 2017 will have netted him close to $70 mil. ($68,896,600) $19,953,000+$23,943,600+$25,000,000. the rumors are they may tag him again for 2018.

Albert Haynesworth ring a bell?

They let two 1000 yard receivers go this offseason. Not 1 but 2!

Good to have the RW era over with, finally.

Big difference-all the grooming in the world will not change the fact that EJ is a bad NFL QB.
