Another Fan Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Used to be a big fan of his when I was in high school and even owned some of his comedy albums. Then I got older and just found him stupid. But the other night I watched Mr Deeds for the first time in ages and enjoyed it. I liked his sort of regular Joe shtick. I mean some people must have liked his films over the years as I think most of them were profitable.
Johnny Hammersticks Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Phunck yeah! Happy Gilmore? Billy Madison? Fuggettaboutitttt!!!
Captain Murica Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Eh, not a huge fan of his. Earlier films were his best. I even thought "That's my boy" had its moments. Lately, I find him very bland and annoying more than humorous.
boyst Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Click. Happy Gilmore. Billy Madison. Then big daddy was OK. and water boy too The one where he is the devils kid is lame but good.
CommonCents Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I liked the first Grown Ups movie, that was his last decent movie
Augie Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Don't have high expectations, and you will generally be amused. Nothing great, but good comedy at times.
Just Jack Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Hard part is watching him in a serious role (Spanglish, Punch Drunk Love) but he definitely has a more talent than just comedies.
KD in CA Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Used to be a big fan of his when I was in high school and even owned some of his comedy albums. Then I got older and just found him stupid. I think you pretty much summed up the topic right here. That said, I still love The Wedding Singer.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 (edited) Mr. Deeds is an extremely underrated and awesome movie. I will say that Adam Sandler movies overall though took a real nose dive with Click. They are almost too dark or depressing. Edit: looks like his darkest period was like 2005-2009. He had Click, Spanglish, that 9/11 movie "reign over me" and that movie where he was a comic dying of cancer. Edited June 20, 2017 by JR in Pittsburgh
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 only a select few. Spanglish, Blended, Pixels, Bulletproof, Big Daddy.
Royale with Cheese Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Always liked him as a person but never really liked his movies....I don't get the humor.
jr1 Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I liked the sports themed ones like Happy Gilmore and The Longest Yard
Maury Ballstein Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Little Nicky may be the worst movie ever. Crazy talk. Rodney Dangerfields parts were hilarious, as was the deep Deep South jokes. Billy Madison, Waterboy, Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, Funny People (after a few watches) are all good imo.
SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Always liked him as a person but never really liked his movies....I don't get the humor. Simple humor I get. The off the wall is too cornball for me. Maybe if I were stoned or trippin
dhg Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I didn't mind him on SNL, but his shtick got really old. The Longest Yard remake is one movie that should never have been made. Just an awful reboot.
shrader Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 With the way he loves doing all the stupid voices, he really should be doing children's movies and cartoons full time. Unfortunately, he's still getting paid to put out all the crap he does.
PromoTheRobot Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Used to be a big fan of his when I was in high school and even owned some of his comedy albums. Then I got older and just found him stupid. I mean some people must have liked his films over the years as I think most of them were profitable. His latter stuff is dreadful, but I admire his ability to find his niche and exploit it. He's a very wealthy man now. Stupid sells.
boyst Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 I prefer the original Mr deeds. Not Adam Sandlers remake
Joe Miner Posted June 20, 2017 Posted June 20, 2017 Crazy talk. Rodney Dangerfields parts were hilarious, as was the deep Deep South jokes. Billy Madison, Waterboy, Wedding Singer, 50 First Dates, Funny People (after a few watches) are all good imo. I like to laugh, and even the worst comedy can usually elicit a chuckle or two. That movie had no redeemable qualities. Nothing was remotely funny, and certainly nowhere near hilarious.
