nucci Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 Dumb, I only support them financially when they are moving toward winning. Yesterday's moves were exactly the opposite for several years. The draft is a crapshoot, most players bust from all rounds. Maybe it works in the volume they are gathering them, but no one will know for years. Between then and now, be prepared to be really awful. I'm always prepared for awful. I sat through 1-12-1, 1-13, 2-14 , 4-12......
leonbus23 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 What? A post with VPN instructions stays up? Weird.
major Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I got NFL Sunday ticket for free today. Think I spent 15 minutes on phone with them. Ready for kickoff. Go bills
BuffaloBud Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Made my phone call yesterday as I was about to pay my bill. Went direct to "customer retention". Rep noticed that I was a subscriber since 1996. End result - got $18 off for each of the 6 payments for Sunday Ticket ($108 off total), ST Max for free (I'll hardly use it), and 3 months of HBO for free (I may use it here / there). Not exactly free, but did get a discount.
Jukester Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Made the call today, said cancel at the prompt, and got connected to 'customer loyalty.' Never said cancel with the rep. Started with the bill has gotten too high spiel and if they had anything they could offer me. As she started searching, i casually mentioned i'm also interested in ST. Ended up getting Max for free and a $10 credit for 12 months, $498 in savings. Initially only offered regular ST for free and i declined max - but when she put it in, system automatically offered me the max upgrade for free. Thought i was off contract already but apparently i have about a week left. She said to call back as more discounts might pop up in the system at that point. All in all, the call took about 30 mins. As always thanks all for relating your experiences. Very helpful to know the climate when engaging with them.
klos63 Posted August 14, 2017 Posted August 14, 2017 Called yesterday. Asked what they could do to keep my bill like it has been. Offered $47 month discount for 12 months and free HBO for 6 months. Good enough for me.
Ramza86 Posted August 15, 2017 Posted August 15, 2017 I called late last week. Told them that the bill was too high. We are pretty much paying our monthly rate for HBO and ST asked if they could help me out so we could stay with them. They took discounts across the board so that my bill would be the same with ST MAX included with 4 months of free Showtime and Cinemax. I was pretty happy. I was pretty bummed about not being able to get in touch with the boss of the guy that helped. I wanted to put in a good word on account of his help. He said, there isnt really anyone i can talk to, but they do give a survey.
bills_fan_in_raleigh Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Called yesterday. Asked what they could do to keep my bill like it has been. Offered $47 month discount for 12 months and free HBO for 6 months. Good enough for me. make sure you cancel it when its up otherwise they bill ya

Heavy Kevi Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Called yesterday, and rather than offer any type of discount or "free" service, they cancelled it. And I even had to threaten to not pay (debit card just expired and they didnt have new card info yet) just to get it cancelled, as last year I called to cancel but they did not cancel and by the time I realized it was "too late" and there is "no record" of me trying to cancel it. Fine with me really, as I am in the Bills market, but I have never had a good experience on the phone with DTV in 8 years. They don't do what they say they will, leave you on hold for entirely too long, and just try to up-sell rather than solve your problems. Not to mention $250 for football programming is 1st degree highway robbery as far as I'm concerned.
bisonbrigade Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Is it too late to cancel? No, They charged my bill in July for the 1st payment, I cancelled and will be refunded that payment on my next bill. Not paying $260.00 to watch a dumpster fire. Can go to a sports bar and just by a burger or wings for $10.00 and leave if it gets ugly.

All I can add here is that your experiences are markedly different from mine and the majority of other DTV customers who have posted in these threads over the years. And you really think around $15 per week for the privilege of watching every game on TV in the comfort of your own home is excessive?
Heavy Kevi Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I am pretty sure you talked to the wrong department. I talked to the "NFL Sunday ticket specialist" Does not much matter to me what other people's experiences were or are, I have had continuous bad experiences with them. Unfortunately, nobody else can touch their programming. And, yes, eball.... No matter how you slice it, that's too much freakin money for 1 day a week. You say 15 bucks a week, but another way of looking at it is 15 bucks per day of service, since that doesnt cover sunday nights, mondays, or thursday games.

For $15 bucks you can get wings or a burger and a beer and watch it at your local sports bar. And if the Bills suck you can at least know you got a good meal out of your $15.00.
klos63 Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 make sure you cancel it when its up otherwise they bill ya they said the 6 months of HBO will cancel automatically, I don't have to do anything. It's real simple, just read what everyone else does. Ask for 'Customer Retention' specifically. Tell them you would like to get NFL Max and wondering what are the offers that are available, after the first offer, ask for a bit more and my guess is that you'll get a fair deal. I mean, you need to pay for something, so don't be greedy.

And if the Bills suck you can at least know you got a good meal out of your $15.00. If you can sit through a Bills game and only manage to drink one beer, you're a special individual. I figure I'd spend $30+ if I went out every week to watch the Bills...and I'd probably Uber to avoid any drinking/driving issues so there's another $10-20. To me it's a steal.
WhoTom Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 Just did the online chat with DirecTV. First agent offered me $10/month off for a year. I asked him for more and he said that's the best he could do, so I asked to chat with the Retention department. That person offered me $40/month off of DirecTV, but no discount on ST. I asked for a free upgrade to ST-Max; he said he'd need to elevate me to the next level. Third person offered me $40/mo discount and ST-Max (including ST itself) for $99.96. I took the deal. All told, I saved about $630.
JOFUS311 Posted August 16, 2017 Posted August 16, 2017 I sometimes feel bad for DirecTV (not too bad, don't worry..) because as an out of area Bills fan I was spending about $100 every week (Minus the 3 weeks they are on TV here - 2x vs Jets & Thursday night game). How was I spending $100? Well lunch, drinks & shots for my fiancee and I. She suffers through the games for me, so I pay the bill. Then depending on the severity of the Bills Anguish I suffer that game, a $20 cab ride home as well. That was close to $500 a month, 4 months a year. $2,000 to watch this crap??!!?? Anyway, DirecTV, full price with Sunday ticket full price + Max full price was still SIGNIFICANTLY lower than what I was paying at the bar. (Also, the bar was dave and busters and their food sucks...). My full price bill was $75 a month for 8 months, then $125 a month during the season - That was still about a $900 discount form going to the bar. But now I'm paying $59 a month for Sunday ticket, max & the movie channels. I feel like I'm taking advantage of them... But oh well, GO BILLS!
