BF_in_Indiana Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 The teams that are out whoring themselves to free agents are the teams that are the furthest away. The Bills were in that situation a couple of years ago. You are forced to move quickly to bring in a star or two to improve your team. Our signings aren't going to be as dramatic as some here would like to see. We need to try to get this Shelton deal done if at all possible though, we do need a LT and he is going to come cheaper than the guys on the market. If we can sign a G that would also help. DT can be addressed in the draft if we have to, I'm not sure how deep the draft is in that spot though. We still have one very good DT in Adams. There's no rush this year folks, so relax and have a beer or five.

Getting Shelton is the main key because then we dont have to worry about overpaying on the market for some guy who isnt worth the contract, rather than have our hand forced out of need. We land Shelton and then we'll have around 3 million left over to sign a guard, which EASILY would net us a solid player. It all hinges on Shelton for me. The second he's a Bill, I'm back to my usual mellow self...starting threads about asian lesbian octuplets and such.

Add that to SI saying he is one of the top 10 guys available.
BF_in_Indiana Posted March 3, 2005 Author Posted March 3, 2005 The only position we HAVE to address is left tackle. We have no one on our roster currently who I believe can step in and do a good job there full time. DT is another story. Hell why not sign Ed Hartwell and go to a 3-4? Our strength is our LBs so why not just sign another good one and switch to a 3-4? Then we don't need another DT.

I think he would probably want to stay with his strength the way the system is set now. I'm still hoping that it doesn't happen but I would not be surprised to see Big Pat end up with his old boss Ted Cotrell up in Minny. We may have to see what Krumrie can do with the guys we have. Edwards is proven and they felt Anderson was worth a third round pick so let's see what we got.

I think it would suit our team though, our DL is not our strength. Schobel is better for a 3-4 and we have 3 good LB's. Posey is more effective in a 3-4 and it would hide our weak DE's.
Fan in San Diego Posted March 3, 2005 Posted March 3, 2005 I do wish we would sign Pat Williams. He's a keeper DL IMHO.
