boyst
(THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL THREAD AND ANY EFFORTS TO DO SO WILL MAKE YOU A JERK. DON'T BE A JERK) http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/06/10/lawmaker-mistakenly-hands-out-document-with-porn-references.html PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Be careful when you're surfing the web. That's the lesson learned by a Rhode Island lawmaker, who acknowledged he mistakenly gave his colleagues a handout that showed open browser tabs referencing pornographic content. State Rep. Ramon Perez brought printouts of a Wikipedia article Wednesday to give to House Finance Committee members as part of his testimony in favor of a bill. ExiledInIllinois
But of course it is political, and any efforts to make it not makes you a jerk. Why not post it on PPP, much more fun there and then gloves can come off. :-/
WhoTom
Which is more embarrassing: not knowing how to browse in privacy mode or using Wikipedia as a source?
ExiledInIllinois
Which is more embarrassing: not knowing how to browse in privacy mode or using Wikipedia as a source? Yeah... Wiki is good for stuff like who was drafted or who won SB IV.
WhoTom
Yeah... Wiki is good for stuff like who was drafted or who won SB IV. It's not a bad way to learn about a new topic, assuming the article has good sources. It's also a decent way to find sources, but it's not a source in itself. There should be a "basic research ability" requirement for elected officials.
boyst
Which is more embarrassing: not knowing how to browse in privacy mode or using Wikipedia as a source? i blame this being an old people issue for both. many people of the older demographic are of the variety and belief that its on the internet (snopes, wikipedia, drudge, cnn, reddit, facebook) so it must be true. and old people don't know how to clear history or privacy mode. hell i keep a notepad over my camera on my tablet and laptop. my cell phone is too old for it to even matter. technology is everywhere it knows everything. that's a given. folks passing out information like this is just hilarious there is an old meme that people are protesting giving information away to the government yet willfully posting every detail of their life on social media. people just don't know what life is in this case! This. Situational awareness. People in general are just slobs. Sloppy, sloppy, sloppy. Nobody's perfect... But cum on! Are people really this desensitized to their surroundings?
