BillnutinHouston
So my son decided to go to school in Buffalo and I'm thinking of dropping DirecTV and setting him up with cable so I can sling Buffalo stations (away games) back to my place in Pittsburgh. Question - if my son shuts off the game in frustration on his end, am I out of luck? Can I only watch what he has tuned on his end? Also a related question - the Sabres and some Bills shows are on MSG, right? Thanks guys. Edited June 10, 2017 by BillnutinHouston
Corp000085
Yes and yes. Slingbox essentially captures the video and audio signal coming to the TV from the cable/sat box. If channel is changed on the box or if it is turned off, this is what you'll see through Slingbox. Slingbox does have a remote control feature though so you can "take over" the cable box remotely. As for the MSG question, they're the carrier for the Sabres on the alternate MSG channel. I'm not sure if they have other programming outside of games on the alternate channel or on the main MSG channel. I live in NC so I don't get MSG. Doc
I put a Slingbox in my/mom's house in Rochester and it's been great. Very rarely she will change the channel while the game is on but I just have to call her and ask her if she could watch on another TV.
Kirby Jackson
Can you use the sling box on Fios or DirecTv? I'd love to be able to get the Yanks and the Sabres.

Kirby Jackson
Anything. That is great thanks. Last question, just the power on the box needs to be on right? There's a box at my dad's in one of the bedrooms that no one goes in unless I'm there. If I can set it up there I would be able to use it at all times. The box has to be plugged-into an outlet and hooked-up to service. You can turn the box on remotely.
