Did the memo Comey asked to be leaked to the media contain classified information? That is the only memo that matters relative to classified information.

All his other memos were shared with officials possessing the appropriate clearances to see them. As FBI Director, he was in the business of creating and sharing classified information with other officials.

Very lame attempt by the right to make hay out of this. They need to up their character assassination game. How long before Comey and Meuller are accused of operating a child pornography ring?

Report: Comey Memos Are Government Documents . . . and Some Are Classified

http://thehill.com/policy/national-security/341225-comeys-private-memos-on-trump-conversations-contained-classified

The Hill is reporting that more than half of the memoranda former FBI director James Comey made regarding his conversations with president-elect and then President Trump contain classified information. The FBI, moreover, has determined that all of the memos are government documents.

This will come as a surprise to no one who has been following this story.

There was no doubt the memos were government documents (regardless of the former director’s suggestion that they were his personal property, memorializing his “recollection recorded” of his conversations with the president)

Comey testified that he gave at least one memo to an intermediary, a law professor at Columbia. The intermediary disclosed at least a portion of the memo to the New York Times.

Like I said, it's the only memo that matters. Did this memo contain classified information? Was any portion of the leaked memo published in the NYT classified in nature? If so, Comey broke the law. Unless the six associates at the FBI/DOJ he shared his memos with weren't cleared, then there is no there there and it's just a feeble attempt to further smear Comey's reputation.

why did he take government property? Why did he not destroy it or disclose it when fired? Why did he beat his stupid chest.

I have first hand knowledge of him. A likeable guy, great with people and smart enough to cover all his tracks should something like exactly what happened happen. The guy is genuinely a nice man and never have I heard anyone say something bad about his personality. I've heard people with direct relationships question his character as he seemed always relay and practicing a fallout plan. I don't know that everything is out yet.

But that's the point, he shouldn't have let this happen and its his own fault. He deserves to burn.

He explained why in his Senate hearing. Whether that's satisfactory to the powers that be remains to be seen. And I think whether or not the leaked memo contained any classified information will greatly inform the powers that be as to whether or not they treat that memo as stolen government property or the picayune matter is appears to be on the surface at the moment. As I said, all the other memos were shared with those with the authority to see them.

Deserves to burn? I'm glad you wouldn't recommend any drastic sentence instead.

I think this is enough PPP for me. I was interested to see people's take on the collusion story, and I don't exactly know what I was expecting. Haven't visited in years, and now I know why.

Stay classy guys!

Don't leave yet - so far, there's no collusion, so therefore no story. All you're going to see on the subject is pure speculation at this point.

Well, speculation and emotion, that is.

property is Stoll property. If this was Anyone else he'd be toasted.

Burn is a relative term. As his career burned to shreds and integrity heavily weighed

He testified, under oath, that he shared the memos with the senior leadership team at the FBI; six others in total. That senior leadership team has the proper clearance.

Except there is precedent of an FBI director keeping his memorandums. It will be interesting to see how far the FBI or DOJ push the limits here. Like I said, if the leaked memo contains classified info, I think there's a stronger case to be made for pressing Comey on the matter.

Are you just being obtuse in thinking that the senior leadership at the FBI wouldn't have the proper clearances? It just stands to reason, that's all. Assuming one is reasonable.

There is an outside chance they wouldn't, "need to know" being a thing and all.

But until demonstrated otherwise, it's a pretty safe assumption they did.
