Free speech or dirtbags

I'm referring to post #5. To me that clearly reads that they made a morally reprehensible decision to allow user content streams knowing the potential horrible things that could be posted.

They did. I never said they don't have the right, but it was certainly morally reprehensible as was Big Z's initial purpose for his scourge of a product.

They rushed a product to market. They chose not to proactively figure out policies and safeguards. They are now faking doing things reactively which of course would be much more difficult as they were fully aware. But at least they didn't get beat to market by other murder channels. Congrats!

The chimney sweep conversation was in jest, I'm hoping your comment was not taking that literally.

We don't do "jest" around here. It was obvious that in your argument to ban chimney sweeping, you were hoping for the intentional consequences of creating fires that would cause the death of many children. That's nothing to laugh about. I suggest you team up with gator and the two of you sit around alternating between laughing at burning children and guffawing about dead people in Benghazi.

This, by the way, was "jest."

All manufacturers of firearms and/or ammunition are morally bankrupt scumbags. They know full well that for every dad and son shooting clay pigeons, there is a poor sad individual planning a spree killing or holding up a gas station. While I'm not debating their right to manufacture these instruments of violence, I'm calling them out to be the scumbags they are.

...now I most certainly don't really believe or argue this, but it's definitely in the same vein. There is a tremendous demand for social media or platforms to post user content. I don't participate in social media, but I'm in the minority. I just think you can make an argument like this towards most businesses.

Good Lord.

Grow up for a bit and then come back. Your idealism has you talking out of your ass.

I'm far from idealistic. If you can't see the parallels between complaining that facebook is in business despite knowing the potential negative side effects from being in business and firearm manufacturers... well then you're just a moron.

Unless you missed the point that it was an analogy, in which case you're still a moron.

The fact you thought that was really what I was saying is pretty embarrassing for you. I even added the second paragraph to explain the analogy. I don't think you read this thread.

Well, I got your point at least...

Some of us embrace the lunacy for lunacy's sake. But some, on the other hand, are just lunatics.

Bearbaiting the cuckoo-birds is the best reason to be on a board like this.

The best are those who think we care enough to read into a second paragraph, like we care or have time enough to have a vulcan-mind meld with them... :D

this propensity to smugly preen and say "I'm on the correct side of history" is quite entertaining.

It batted .000 for the 20th century and will bat .000 for the 21st as well.

People just don't live real lives according to your theories.

Thank god.

You just said you don't care to read second paragraphs, but then still offer opinions. You must be a liberal.

Define paragraph.

Looks like a sentence to me.

You read it, you can't help yourself...

You just read this 4th one, right?

We were talking about my post about the analogy of the firearm manufacturer to facebook. It was four sentences....BUT a single sentence can in fact be a paragraph for the record.

You seem to be out for zingers today, but keep missing the mark.

Every violent authoritarian revolution or group in modern history, from the Jacobins to the Nazis to the Interahamwe, has required something like Facebook to organize and succeed.

So your saying that Napoleon, not Al Gore created the internet?
