udonkey
Thanks! 259323[/snapback] My plan to re-locate to WNY might still be a possibility later this year - if so, I'm going to need a drinking buddy.

If you work for a software publisher and are going to a competitor, I'd say hit the road today if I was in mangement. I would be worried about you coping code, trade secrets , customer lists etc. However, if you are not going to a competitor, then I would would think most folks would want you to give as much notice as possible if they understand that the reason you are leaving is to move move home, and that you are very happy with your job and the firm. Last thing I want as an employer is to have a guy sitting around for 4 weeks telling everyone why his new job is so much better than this job. Be prepared to promise that your work ethic will remain the same and that all you tell other folks how much you will miss your current job, and you wish you coulsd work for them in Buffalo.
