SlimShady'sSpaceForce Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 (edited) Yes. McDermott ran this draft. Whaley was a bad drafter overall. and my post was for a particular poster, yet people always feel the need to judge and select which post which isn't for them to intrude on, not knowing any history behind it. Arrogance abounds on message boards. Just watch the response to this post. http://www.democratandchronicle.com/story/sports/columnist/roth/2017/04/27/roth-bills-nfl-draft/100999870/ Do you know how long college player evaluations go on? Long before McD was hired. "it was also clear McDermott was the one calling the shots. " Sal M McD "called the shots", but to ignore who did all of the legwork before he was hired. SMH. In the nearly 30 minutes McDermott spoke, he was asked nine or 10 different questions that pertained to who would be making the Bills' draft pick at 10 and Whaley's role in the process. By the time McDermott was done repeating his answer that it will be a team effort for the ninth time, it felt like it didn't really matter. At the end of the day, that's a decision that will be made by Doug and I, together. McDermott left all options on the table with respect to the quarterback position in this year’s draft. http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2017/04/buffalo_bills_pre-draft_luncheon_sean_mcdermott_talks_doug_whaley_5_takeaways.html So tell me, was McDermott telling lies? We feel good about the quarterbacks we have. I really like the work that they’ve put in, starting with Tyrod [Taylor] and [moving] right on down the line. It’s an important position overall, just like the other positions.' “In order to do our job the right way, for us to just ignore certain positions wouldn’t be doing my job or Doug doing his job. We’re going to look at every position so that we know if ‘X’ player is sitting there, we know them inside and out, and we can make a good, solid decision for this organization – quarterback no different.” Edited May 22, 2017 by ShadyBillsFan

Funny that "he said it, was he lying?" is an argument when it works but otherwise, it's "coach speak." MMQB: Is Buffalos quarterback of the future on the roster now? McDermott: He is, in Tyrod Taylor. http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2017/05/15/buffalo-bills-sean-mcdermott-brandon-beane-nfl-peter-king?xid=socialflow_twitter_si

Jamie Mueller Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 Good enough to get you to the playoffs? I think Smith got to the Conference Champ game with SF. Bills challenge... as I see it... is to bring all parts of the team up to this level. Last season there were far too many crippling penalties, poor communication between the players on the field, questionable coaching decisions... and ultimately a defense that couldn't seem to stop anything when it mattered. I just don't see this myopic focus on one position. Production at QB was generally far better than many other positions on the team. We'd have easily made the playoffs if all starters had played as well as Taylor did. No question in my mind.
transplantbillsfan Posted May 22, 2017 Posted May 22, 2017 !Edasurc Nope, just pointing out pretty simple irony. An argument can't be right in one instance and wrong in another when it's the exact same argument. Continue with your vapid posts though.
