Sammy Watkins' Rib Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 Our very own Bills won only 13 games in a five years stretch that spanned the AFL and NFL from 1968 to 1972, or also the five year stretch from 67-71. Those were 14 game schedules though.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted May 19, 2017 Posted May 19, 2017 (edited) My vote would be Sanders but the Lions did have some success in the early 90's going to the NFC championship game and making the playoffs a few times after that. Sanders made the playoffs 5/10 years. Not horrible, especially in that era. NFC was a monster in the 90's. Edited May 19, 2017 by TheTruthHurts
Billzgobowlin Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Steve Largent and Eric Dickerson come to mind Barry Sanders by a mile Barry played for some very good teams mainly because he was such a great running back but Simpson would be one that played for a losing team always.
Augie Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Barry Sanders (Thurman's backup. ) and Archie Manning top my list.
Corp000085 Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 I'd go with OJ or Barry Sanders. Does Bruce Smith's 1985 Bills count?
rafter Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 (edited) How about Marino? Maybe Payton with colts? They won 1 game the year he dropped after being a perennial playoff team. Edited May 20, 2017 by rafter
Augie Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 How about Marino? Maybe Payton with colts? They won 1 game the year he dropped after being a perennial playoff team. For a while, but hard for me to include people who played in Super Bowls.
Alaska Darin Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Walter Payton and Lee Roy Selmon are both excellent choices. The teams Payton played on his first seven seasons were historically bad. I can only imagine the numbers he would have put up with better players around him. His QBs were Gary Huff/Bob Avellini/Mike Phipps/Vince Evans but he led his team in receptions 5 times. The receiving corps was even worse. The game against the Vikings he ran for 275 yards the Bears won 10-7.
row_33 Posted May 20, 2017 Posted May 20, 2017 Floyd Little's Broncos never made the playoffs. Archie Manning isn't in the pro football hall of fame.T
stuvian Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 How about Marino? Maybe Payton with colts? They won 1 game the year he dropped after being a perennial playoff team. Yes Marino on the Dolphins is up there. Shula absolutely ran that team into the ground.
Spurna Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Sebastian Janikowski has been with the Raiders during their best of times and worst of times - hopefully the Raiders make a push this year so he can close out his career on a high note
EasternOHBillsFan Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Jim Thorpe Deacon Jones Bart Starr with the Packers before 1960 Bobby Layne with the Pittsburgh Steelers after Detroit
Pilsner Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Thorpe, Barry Sanders and Largent. Did Cortez Kennedy make it into the HOF?
Charles Romes Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 (edited) Hanna Edited May 21, 2017 by Charles Romes
Clyde Smith Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 Future HOF Randy Moss has never won a ring, although he played for some pretty good teams and went to the SB with the Pats and Niners.
billykaykay Posted May 21, 2017 Posted May 21, 2017 That is bad but Thomas' winning percentage through 10 seasons with the Browns is actually a tick worse at 30%. 48/160 And his rookie season in 2007 the Browns won 10 games missing the final wild card though. Throw out that first season and over the last 9 season Thomas and the Browns have a 26% winning percentage. Jerry Hughes ate him up.
