I wonder how often that happens.  Is that a rare thing, a 50/50 thing, is it common?

It seems like even if it were common, this particular application would warrant someone to come in from the Justice Department to explain themselves. Especially since Carter Page hasn't been charged with anything and is walking around as a free man.

The scariest part is the acknowledgment that they usually don't happen. You're dead on about this seemingly warranting extra attention given the timing/parties involved etc. But:

Department of Justice lawyer Bruce Ohr said former spy Christopher Steele told him in 2016 that Russian intelligence thinks it has President Trump “over a barrel,” sources told the Associated Press. Ohr told legislators in a private interview about the July 30, 2016 breakfast with Steele, who created the controversial dossier with explosive claims about the president. Republicans have argued that the FBI relied too much on the dossier while investigating Trump campaign aide Carter Page. Earlier this month, Trump slammed Ohr, his wife, and Steele in a Twitter tirade. “Bruce Ohr of the ‘Justice’ Department (can you believe he is still there) is accused of helping disgraced Christopher Steele ‘find dirt on Trump.’ Ohr’s wife, Nelly, was in on the act big time,” he wrote. The president also told reporters that he expects to revoke Ohr’s security clearance“very quickly.” “For him to be in the Justice Department and doing what he did, that is a disgrace,” he tweeted.

This is what's really at the heart of this issue. And why "liberals" (in the traditional sense of the term) should be horrified by what's been discovered in terms of the fabrication of the Russian/Trump collusion story. Yes, SC's move on to other areas, but this is where it started and what counts. Running from it now, because you don't like Trump, is not only disingenuous but sets a dangerous precedent from which this republic will never recover.

The conspiracies are really drying up.

Trump's demise will not result from some egregious legal matter nor will it result from his supporters' sudden spiritual awakening. Trump will fall when Lock Her Up! and Build The Wall! and Peter Stroek! and Bruce Ohr! become tired. His tweets are increasingly stale. The last rally he did was remarkably low energy. The stand up act is aging and he's got no new material. If he could reconcile that fragile ego with his sense of self preservation, he'd bow out gracefully. But he cannot.

The evidence is overwhelming to the fact that the left damaged our justice departments and tried to overthrow an American President Election.

You don't have to belong to any political party to understand this, but you leftists continue with you protection parade of these OBVIOUS criminals, for whatever reason.

It's all about protecting your own than wanting justice for all.

Again, you don't have to like Trump at all (and I am sure you don't) to understand what happened.

Yes. The omnipotent Deep State, what with all it's power, colluded to ensure President Hillary Clinton's election.

It couldn't be that a few people of conscious in the DOJ had well founded suspicion that something wasn't right with SideShow Don. It couldn't be that you're contorting those rational suspicions to concoct some radical conspiracy that never actually took place. Attacking the investigation is the oldest trick in the book. I'll give SideShow Don credit. He has played the simultaneous victim/hero card better than anyone has ever played it.

It seems though that the schtick is growing stale. If he wasn't so damn insufferable, he'd be a somewhat sympathetic figure. Then again, the very things that make him insufferable are the things we're drawn to. At this point, he's really damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. Unless of course, the old dog has a few new tricks.

WRONG!  There is no Deep State.  Nor is there "a few people of conscious in the DOJ".  You're as stupid as DerangedRhino is.  Bill & Hillary Clinton are incompetent, lying thieves.  They first screwed Bernie Sanders out of the 2016 Democrat Presidential nomination and they tried to screw Republican Donald Trump out of the 2016 US Presidential election.

But between Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump Wikileaks exposed Hillary Clinton to be the laughably dishonest political whore and complete moron that she really is - and Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 US Presidential election by default to Donald Trump.

I swear, I'm dealing with overly imaginative children here.

You might want to attend to that personal matter instead of posting on a message board.

Simple solution to that problem:

GO.  AWAY.

Posted

The Deep State.  Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...

Then someone else comes up with something even funnier - "a few people of conscious in the DOJ".

You both give creepy, manipulative, greedy, lying, incompetent, sloppy, laughable, hucksters Bill & Hillary Clinton WAY too much credit. Too funny!!

Steele and Ohr worked their entire careers in investigating these criminals from Russia. Trump is going after them. Coincidence?

This is a few days old but interesting. CIA putting this out can only mean they want Putin to think something that might not be true.

https://www.nytimes.com/2018/08/24/us/politics/cia-russia-midterm-elections.html

But two years later, the vital Kremlin informants have largely gone silent, leaving the C.I.A. and other spy agencies in the dark about precisely what Mr. Putin’s intentions are for November’s midterm elections, according to American officials familiar with the intelligence.

The officials do not believe the sources have been compromised or killed. Instead, they have concluded they have gone to ground amid more aggressive counterintelligence by Moscow, including efforts to kill spies, like the poisoning in March in Britain of a former Russian intelligence officer that utilized a rare Russian-made nerve agent.
