GunnerBill Posted May 21, 2017 Author Posted May 21, 2017 Tolbert is a running back not a fullback Nah he is a full back who is a decent ball carrier. Other than last year in Carolina when he started at running back a couple of times he has lined up at full back his whole career and the Bills official roster page lists him as a FB.
GunnerBill Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 (edited) Time for a refresh...... Players are categorised as below: BLACK = Certain to be on the roster if healthy BLUE = Likely to be on the roster if healthy RED = Fighting for a roster spot Quarterback Tyrod Taylor Nathan Peterman TJ Yates Fullback Patrick DiMarco Mike Tolbert Running Back LeSean McCoy Jonathan Williams Cedric O'Neal Joe Banyard Jordan Johnson Wide Receiver Sammy Watkins Zay Jones Andre Holmes Corey Brown Jeremy Butler Walt Powell Brandon Tate Rod Streater Dez Lewis Daikiel Shorts Rashad Ross Tight End Charles Clay Nick O’Leary Logan Thomas Jason Croom Offensive Line Cordy Glenn Richie Incognito Eric Wood John Miller Ryan Groy Dion Dawkins Jordan Mills Vlad Ducasse Seantrel Henderson Michael Ola Defensive Line Marcell Dareus Kyle Williams Shaq Lawson Jerry Hughes Jerel Worthy Ryan Davis Adolphus Washington Eddie Yarbrough Max Valles Marquavius Lewis Jake Metz Ian Seau Deandre Coleman Linebacker Reggie Ragland Preston Brown Lorenzo Alexander Ramon Humber Gerald Hodges Matt Milano Tanner Vallejo Carl Bradford Sam Barrington Corner Tre'Davious White Ron Darby Kevon Seymour Leonard Johnson Shareece Wright Charles James Bradley Sylve Safety Micah Hyde Jordan Poyer Colt Anderson Baccari Rambo Trae Elston Shamiel Gary Specialists Steven Hauschka Reid Ferguson Colton Schmidt Austin Rehkow The conclusion from that is I have 43 likely or very likely. That leaves 10 spots. Obviously one of those goes to either Schmidt or Rehkow as a punter. So there are 9 spots that I think are realistically up for grabs. You would expect that at least 2 of those go to Tight Ends (2 from O'Leary, Thomas and Croom) and I don't think it is beyond the realms of possibility given Dennison's offense that they keep all 3. Then at least 2 more are needed on the defensive line. I have moved Adolphus down to red because I think given his off the field situation he now needs to keep his nose clean and produce in pre-season to be sure of his spot, but if he likely takes one there is probably 1 more defensive line spot (likely for an outside guy) to shoot for. 2 tight ends and 2 DL leaves you looking for 5 needing at least 1 more corner and 1 more receiver. That would probably then leave 3 spots where it comes down to where they want the extra depth and also what they see their Special Teams position as being. Streater, Tate and Powell would all come into that consideration as might Charles James. The extra tight end could be the wildcard.... or maybe the extra lineman if they like where Seantrel is? buffaloboyinATL Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 great update. There are going to be a couple of tough cuts on that list. I want all 4 of those TE's, but I don't see it happening. Maybe Croom to PS? I think Streater makes roster and maybe Shorts to PS? I really like Walt Powell but he always seems like odd man out.
ALF Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 If Henderson can stay healthy , after his suspension would keep him over Mills so far. If he promises no more weed I'm rooting for D. Shorts at WR also.
Kirby Jackson Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Not bad Gunner!! I'd make a few changes in that I'd bump Washington to likely. He's gotten the 1st team reps with Dareus out and offers some versatility despite the waterpark incident. I'd bump O'Leary to likely as well. I'd lower Hodges to fighting for a spot and Ducasse. Ducasse has been given an opportunity to this point but may not end up on the roster. Hodges can't seem to bump up the roster (like Ragland). I'd move Milano to red and he may be a PS candidate. It's possible that they only keep 1 of the 2 drafted LBs. Tolbert seems like a lock to me as well. I've been clear on my position on Yates too. He's a red for me. If he isn't the #2 he isn't making the team IMO. He's the number 2 still but that may change.

I don't really want Ducasse there but from what I hear, and the Cover 1 guys touched on this, Groy has been lining up exclusively at centre. That suggests to me there is a spot for a backup guard and unless Ducasse blows in pre-season games his relationship with Castillo makes him a likely. I also from a number of sources hear good things about Milano.... interested why you think he doesn't make it? Apparently he has been on the Special Teams number 1 unit for the most part as well. Tolbert I did consider as a lock. You might be right there.... he is very close to lock territory if not quite in it.

In terms of Milano, if they keep Alexander, Brown, Ragland, Humber, Hodges and Vallejo I'm just not sure how many LBs they will keep? Especially when they are stressing versatility and playing a 4-3. He feels like a potential PS guy. It's possible though that he almost functions as a hybrid type and maybe that leaves one less safety. In terms of Ducasse I think that Mudge has a chance to grab that spot. He seems to have had a nice camp so far. I think Ducasse has a chance to land on the roster I just wouldn't put him quite to likely yet.
GunnerBill Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 My instinct is Milano would be ahead of Vallejo... higher draft pick both have rotated in with the 2nds so far, both are good teams players. I think both make it I really do. Brown's in a contract year, Hodges is a 1 year deal as is Humber, Alexander is an old man..... I suspect McDermott and Beane are thinking about depth longer term in the linebacker group and they can both play teams so it is not like you are keeping spare parts. I'd be surprised if either misses out.

Worst case, he's a PS guy. It's possible that someone like Hodges is out too if they keep 6. They probably keep 8 DL. That's 15 guys in the front 7. Maybe that's the right number. It just feels like a lot.
teef Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 concerning milano, i know he had a pick in camp, but otherwise, how has he looked? i honestly thought they may try to keep him on as a S in some capacity.

Shorts at WR also. I'm expecting Henderson to be cut this preseason and replaced with Cameron Jefferson whose been in camp with Dennison the last two years in Denver and even spent some time on their practice squad.
26CornerBlitz Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 I'm expecting Henderson to be cut this preseason and replaced with Cameron Jefferson whose been in camp with Dennison the last two years in Denver and even spent some time on their practice squad. This seems very unlikely with the current reps each player is getting in camp thus far. Henderson gets 1st team reps at LT when Glenn isn't in and and 2nd team reps at LT other than that.
Kirby Jackson Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Henderson is an intriguing guy because of his athleticism. Obviously there are a lot of questions and concerns with him but he can play some. I'm not surprised to see a new staff liking him.

Henderson gets 1st team reps at LT when Glenn isn't in and and 2nd team reps at LT other than that. Although I think that is partly because they want to give Dawkins a clear run in camp at RT. I suspect if Glenn went down Dawkins would switch instantly to LT. I might be wrong though... we know Henderson has talent when healthy and focused.

SoCal Deek Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Thanks for putting this thread together. It should definitely be stickied. At this time of year it's the only thread that really matters. I'm always intrigued by the long list of red players...many of which I've never heard of, and most of which have no shot at making the final roster. With that said, does anyone really think that Adolphus Washington should be in red? Hard to imagine that the Bills are throwing him to wayside already.
thebandit27 Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Changes I would make: Corey Brown to red Brandon Tate to blue Nick O'Leary to blue Adolphus Washington to blue Bacarri Rambo to red
Saxum Posted August 1, 2017 Posted August 1, 2017 Changes I would make: Change players such as "Seantrel Henderson" to gray since their status does not need to be determined until after they have served their suspension. You are predicting week 1, correct?
GunnerBill Posted August 1, 2017 Author Posted August 1, 2017 Changes I would make: Corey Brown to red Brandon Tate to blue Nick O'Leary to blue Adolphus Washington to blue Bacarri Rambo to red Can see the logic in those. I certainly think O'Leary has the inside track on the #2 TE job because he can block.

I see the same I am hoping we are able to send and keep some of the kids to PS. and pull up if injury occurs. See a couple opportunities. Shorts Milano Mudge Sylve Croom JJ for starters. O'leary is #2 I hope Ducasse is seen as expendable Washington would be a surprise not to remain.
