BUFFALOKIE Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I guess there is more than one way to win the offseason!
The Wiz Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 (edited) How are we going to handle life when there are no daily/weekly leaks out of the front office about disfunction? I'm sure we can make something up Edited May 15, 2017 by The Wiz
chris heff Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 That would be icing on the cake. Dunno how he'd keep off the booze in buffalo though. Worth a shot if he's interested imo "Worth a shot", nice, was that intentional.
Saxum Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 How are we going to handle life when there are no daily/weekly leaks out of the front office about disfunction? Make them up, same way they happened before.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Basically Pegula asked himself what he hasn't tried yet. The answer was spend on front office staff. I expect the same for the Sabres.
HansLanda Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 I'm sure we can make something up What we need is a bonafide QB controversy That will help balance us.
billsbackto81 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 LOL that's a terrible quality gif! If I weren't such a huge fan of the last boy scout I don't think I could have identified it Somebody didn't read the rest of the thread... LoL, who has time for all that reading? I see the title and I comment. Sometimes it works, sometimes not so much.
Malazan Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 How are we going to handle life when there are no daily/weekly leaks out of the front office about disfunction? oh, don't you worry, there's people on this board who have whole "Got Lucky" manifesto ready to go if the Bills ever win the SuperBowl
Mark Vader Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 @AaronWilson_NFL Brian Gaine was a major contributor to Texans' personnel dept should be a big asset to the Bills in new job Gaine will keep things clean at OBD.
Kirby Jackson Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Well we juse got Gaine on a lateral move...Yes, and he is near the top of the food chain. He wanted to be closer to home. An area scout is going from Denver to Buffalo. The Bills have done a great job so far on all 3 hires. They got people that have good reputations. They need to keep it up but the top of the org chart looks really strong.
The Wiz Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 What we need is a bonafide QB controversy That will help balance us. Isn't there already one? Everyone is competing for a starting position! Once camp starts we will see the Peterman, Yates, Jones threads popping up as the new starter.
YoloinOhio Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 I am very surprised the Texans allowed this to happen. It wasn't a promotion, so they could have blocked it if I am not mistaken. http://m.chron.com/sports/texans/article/Texans-director-player-personnel-Brian-Gaine-Bills-11147617.php Under league rules, the Texans could have kept Gaine, who did a terrific job as general manager Rick Smith's right-hand man. The Texans gave Gaine permission to accept the job because it's a promotion in title and a raise and places him closer to his family in Pearl River, N.Y.
The Wiz Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 (edited) http://m.chron.com/sports/texans/article/Texans-director-player-personnel-Brian-Gaine-Bills-11147617.php Apparently VP of PP is better than Director of PP? Not saying it's true but if the NFL has pre-defined job titles then it could be a promotion. Edited May 15, 2017 by The Wiz

Once camp starts we will see the Peterman, Yates, Jones threads popping up as the new starter. I am sure that is one thing Beane and company are saying for the sake of keeping the "you have to earn it" message. Especially if there's truth to the rumor that Whaley wanted to move on from TT and McD wanted to keep him.

Especially if there's truth to the rumor that Whaley wanted to move on from TT and McD wanted to keep him. Well the first part is true for sure. I'm curious if Whaley wanted to move on from TT once he signed the new contract since it would lower the cap hit as opposed to before. Either way, If we are paying a guy to play might as well see what he can do (In the eyes of McD anyways).
BillnutinHouston Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Wow I am stunned. I'd just assumed that Beane & Gaine interviewing for the GM job meant it was going to be an either/or kind of deal. Solid brain trust at the top. Not since the Polian days have we seen this. It feels strange.
YoloinOhio Posted May 15, 2017 Author Posted May 15, 2017 Brian Gaine will oversee both college and pro scouting http://www.espn.com/espn/now?nowId=21-0655910401132728953-4
ndirish1978 Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 For some reason I find this to be super encouraging. Lateral move from a better organization.
McBean Posted May 15, 2017 Posted May 15, 2017 Nice hire. Seems to me we're finally building this thing the right way. Very optimistic about the future of this team.
