...and I find it amusing that posters are saying things like "give them three years and we'll see" and whatnot.

Yes, it's McD's first HC job, and yes, it's Beane's first GM job (although he did serve as interim GM for 10 games in 2012), but these guys are hardly "green" and the Bills' roster cupboard is far from bare.

I will be shocked if the Bills aren't at least a 6-7 win team, and I certainly think it's possible they could win 9 or 10. This is not a rebuild, it's a refocus.

The Bills haven't achieved step one yet.

So refocus to what? Getting back to 9 wins?

This team peaked two years ago.

How about a refocus to getting back to a dominant defensive team?

This team was TENTH IN THE NFL IN SCORING LAST YEAR.....and that is without its number 1 receiving weapon the majority of the time and its number 2 dealing with a groin the last 2 years

the refocus is to get the defense back where it should be (in my opinion)

You're right. The one strength of this team was weakened by Whaley's incompetence.

And this fantastically talented RB Whaley let "get away" was soooo great that every team in the league was chasing him with record-breaking contract offers, right? Come down from the clouds; until he signed with the Bills, who ever heard of him? And while I would have liked to have kept him, Whaley and the pro scouting department's track record says we'll find another MG type without missing a beat. Oh wait, Whaley was fired and there is no pro scouting department at the moment.

If you don't think there will be major starting players affected by this. I don't inow what too say. It could start with dumping #14 next season Kyles retirement possibly forced. Wood getting up there. Clay concievably leaving in 18. A new QB, it's a rebuild.

Just so far not a complete teardown.

That happens with every team; aging vets, guys making more than they are worth or players needing to go because they constantly fight the injury bug but it doesn't mean it is a rebuild. I would rather say we need to reload and like Eball said we have a lot of talent and some very good young players. I think we win at least 8 games this year and our stock is going up with the guys we now have running the show.

Yes all bad decisions were made by Whaley rather than bean counter in charge of cap or coach McCut.

Money decisions were not made by Whaley but by cap specialist who is still employed - since playoff drought he has been employed I believe.

Wonderful Another one with an infatuation for Whaley. Very rare of course. He was not a good GM.That's why he is gone. And Overdorf hopefully is next.

Try INSANE...

Not for NE. I would be surprised if they did lose a game. they are loaded.

The best run organization in all of sports at the current moment gave him a nice contract.

And he was a very good player here so what is your point about nobody knowing who he was before the Bills signed him?

I wish we would stop talking about the pats like everything they do is pure gold.

They win because they have the greatest qb and HC in history. It tends to make everything look good They had Troy Brown playing CB and still made a deep playoff run. They made Hogan a star.

Their defense is no illusion.

The loss of MG will hurt. He was a very good player for the Bills.

They have great cb's now, but their pass rush isn't great. Their D is a great example of having the best coach and qb. When has BB ever fielded a bad defense?

And having Brady has always helped that unit enormously. He keeps opposing offenses off the field, and makes them one dimensional by building leads.

The Bills are still a 7-8 win team. But I think the Pegulas have taken big steps in the right direction this offseason.

They didn't have the lead in the SB. They seem to always come up with a big play on defense when they need it.

As usual, I am in total agreeance with Scott Law

Look no further than HC Sean if you care to praise or critique or shrug shoulders on our 2017 off season moves

And the owners if you love, hate, or don't care, about our new collaborative mgmt structure

Which by the way its our off season moves and unusual mgmt structure

That has media experts, pundits, and Las Vegas, predicting just 5-6 wins for our team

That points to the loss of, on the field talent, usually associated with a rebuild

I'm not saying I agree or disagree, right now being May, I'm a fence sitter

Though I lean towards them all being wrong, that it's more a redirection

And thinking we are surely still a 7-8 win team, just not more

It's the optic of fans that I find ironically humorous

For if in 2017 if we win 6-7 games and Marrone or Rex were still the HC fans would be mega furious

However if HC Sean does the same fans will be instead be very patient

Because some or most will have branded 2017 a rebuilding season

Yet its still the same 6-7 wins regardless of the branding

Food for thought

Nothing happens unless Brady is there.

Not only does the defense stay inspired because they have seen Brady come back so many times, but it's in the head of opposing teams also. If Atlanta was playing anyone else, they probably win that game going away.

And it all supports the point: signing MG doesn't all of a sudden change the kind of player MG was and is. He's a decent back. We shouldn't have even a 2nd thought about losing a guy like that.

Unless you think that no good team should ever lose a decent player, which is ludicrous.

No second thought-he was more then decent for this team. He was a very good change of pace back for McCoy. We lost another good player. this team doesn't have enough good starters much less good depth.

The Patsies could have signed him for peanuts before he ever signed with the Bills. It was only after he got showcased in Buffalo that he became valuable to them. And as far as the demand for his services, I believe the only team that made him a serious offer was NE, and that was at almost the last possible minute.

My point is that he wasn't this high-value RB prior to becoming a Bill. He was just another of dozens of RBs bouncing around the league. Now we'll see if Beane can pull off the thing Whaley did routinely, finding these talented but overlooked guys like MG and Lorax. If he can, then MG won't be missed.

Honestly, Williams has the potential to be better and more versatile, and to carry a full load if Shady misses time. He was great in college.

The Bills have had all kinds of issues over the years, but developing RB's isn't one of them.

That's called spinning wheels. again. and MG was very valuable for the Bills, and that is all that matters.

Williams has shown nothing thus far in his body of NFL work. Both RBs played in the same system, and MG was clearly much better.

And Mike G. clearly got more carries and more work

You cant just throw a player in every now and then (wasnt even active every game in Jon Williams case) and expect them to put up productive numbers
