likei've Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 if he is a legit candidate than who cares about the roonie rule. But good to know we are ready to hire someone if we decide. Well... Us. We all care about the Roonie rule. We have to. If you want to see anyone hired anytime soon we should all worry about the Roonie rule being satisfied.
Agent 91 Posted May 7, 2017 Posted May 7, 2017 It's 2017. Beane can just say he identifies as an Black Asian White guy who is also a Middle Eastern Buddhist Muslim who is thinking about converting to Judaism once his gender transition is completed by the Iriquois Doctor who considers him both a son and a daughter. That will keep Goodell's head spinning for a while. Or they could say they interviewed Whaley to keep his job. Or they could claim caustic douche bags are a minority and claim they gave Tim Murray a shot. Or maybe they could just keep an open mind and interview a legit candidate. Lol that was worth the read
Blokestradamus Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 @AdamSchefter Looks like a favorite has emerged: Panthers asst GM Brandon Beane is headed back to Buffalo for second GM interview with Bills, per source.
HappyDays Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Beane obviously ran our draft behind the scenes so we have a sneak preview of what to expect from here on out.
Bangarang Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 In other breaking news, oceans contain water. Seemed like the clear favorite from the beginning
KellyToughII Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Beane obviously ran our draft behind the scenes so we have a sneak preview of what to expect from here on out. What, that we will finally have really good drafts? I am down with that.
jeffismagic Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Beane obviously ran our draft behind the scenes so we have a sneak preview of what to expect from here on out. So we will now just draft to fill needs for the head coach while throwing away picks. Sign me up!
KellyToughII Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 So we will now just draft to fill needs for the head coach while throwing away picks. Sign me up! We got 3 possibly 4 starters out of this draft, Ill take that every year
HappyDays Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 So we will now just draft to fill needs for the head coach while throwing away picks. Sign me up! Maybe our next GM will try the strategy of picking players you put as your avatar
billieve420 Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Can't wait for the Buffalo News if given the chance to question whether Beane was leaking info to the Bills and influenced draft choices.
jeffismagic Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Maybe our next GM will try the strategy of picking players you put as your avatar Well, that would be better than your QB strategy of waiting for perfection. 20 years with no franchise QB but you want to pass on very good QB prospects while drafting Levi Browns.
Blokestradamus Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 So we will now just draft to fill needs for the head coach while throwing away picks. Sign me up! I still get confused by this. Are they meant to leave the holes wide open and not fill them?
ALF Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 (edited) Michael Lombardi explains why Doug Whaley’s firing should come as no surprise Lombardi believes that the only way for the Bills to be successful is to find a GM that is philosophically aligned with McDermott and can help him build a team. This seems to be what the Bills are doing Whaley was all about scouting players; McDermott is about building a team. Scouts don’t always know how to build teams. They know only how to pick players. And a scout focused primarily on scouting players can succeed only in a fantasy draft. http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2017/5/4/15544158/buffalo-bills-michael-lombardi-general-manager-doug-whaley-firing-is-not-a-surprise good commonsense Edited May 8, 2017 by ALF
thebandit27 Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 So we will now just draft to fill needs for the head coach while throwing away picks. Sign me up! I love that acquiring another first round pick next year qualifies as throwing away picks!
jeffismagic Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 I still get confused by this. Are they meant to leave the holes wide open and not fill them? Drafting for short term needs will leave a team with far less talent after a few drafts. See Levy-Jauron.
Blokestradamus Posted May 8, 2017 Posted May 8, 2017 Drafting for short term needs will leave a team with far less talent after a few drafts. See Levy-Jauron. Only if you draft inferior talent because the need exists. I saw the first 3 picks in the '17 class as need players with good value so maybe I care a little less if they get it right. If you take a Maybin because of need, I agree.
