frostbitmic Posted May 4, 2017 Posted May 4, 2017 That list contains an awful lot of former Bills. We could get back Rambo, Byrd and the backle specialist Donte Whifner.

I think Byrd makes too much sense if you can get him for cheap. He should hold no grudge since the GM and coach who let him go are gone, and his dad is here. Maybe he can turn it around.

I think he was an average safety the capitalized at the right time. Not sure with age and injury history he has much left to give.. Theres a reason hes still unsigned.

offsides#76FredSmerlas Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 (edited) @profootballtalk Panthers cut former starting safety Tre Boston http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2017/05/02/panthers-cut-tre-boston-and-some-other-guys/ Hope he likes wings. We could use the depth. Live in Carolina and everyone down here was happy to see him get waived and their sports radio station spoke today about how he could never be trusted, wasn't consistent and got burned often. They went on to say how thin they are at safety but that it was still a good move to get rid of him because he was that bad. I'm not a Panther fan and I always have the Bills games on so I don't know first hand but from what I have been hearing it doesn't sound like a guy I want on our team. voodoo poonani Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 (edited) Don't know much about him except that he grades out better than Poyer per PFF. He should fit our system given who his DC was. YoloinOhio Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 Bills didn't put in a waiver claim, so McD doesn't like him *that* much. Guessing it's money related though... might try to see if he will sign for cheap depth deal.

Not sure with age and injury history he has much left to give.. Theres a reason hes still unsigned. Byrd laid down on the job his last season with the Bills....did not play for the money he was paid. Bad Attitude...don't want him back here...I would be forced to booo him during the games. Maybe bad advice from an agent, but, with him being slow to start, don't need to see him here.
voodoo poonani Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 hmm there is this nugget http://www.panthers.com/news/article-2/Thoughts-on-Tre-Bostons-departure-and-whats-next/d7b025b0-162a-43d2-9ce5-902aa7110df6 Boston, drafted out of North Carolina in the fourth round in 2014, struggled with consistency during his tenure with the Panthers and never managed to secure a full-time role on the defense.
YoloinOhio Posted May 5, 2017 Author Posted May 5, 2017 No need to claim at that price if you can now sign him for the minimumif he thought he could start he would have claimed him considering the 1.8 is cheap for a starting S. You also make sure he doesn't go elsewhere. Looks like if he does like him, it's for depth only and is comfortable knowing he might not get him.

Let him rotate in certain packages or if Hyde or Poyer need a break Edited May 5, 2017 by JM57
Dopey Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 Beane making moves for BUF before officially signing on here, nice! Like the way you think. If you're in the tub, can I join? The Bert and Ernie show!

boyst Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 he's not great. he is like jairus byrd on his worst day while having his best abilities which makes no sense to those reading this. he is a good tackler. sometimes. he can look like byrd did in his best season on one play and really just disappear and look as lost as meeks the next he found the right spot to be in the play on defense but it was clearly on accident. when he was, he looked good. if he was a full time starter for us i would be concerned but i really cannot speculate how dylan mcdermott wants to use him or this defense. he has never had a dl like ours.
TheyCallMeAndy Posted May 5, 2017 Posted May 5, 2017 He's 205 pounds, known as more of a physical guy. You wonder if he can gain 10-15 pounds and be that hybrid SS/WLB.

Nothing wrong adding system experienced depth.
