BringBackFergy Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 So long as Beane has a decent haircut and doesn't look stoned when giving an interview I say hire him.
Marv's Neighbor Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Not a good fit???? We LOVE people who are not a good fit.
YoloinOhio Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 So long as Beane has a decent haircut and doesn't look stoned when giving an interview I say hire him.but does he think humans should play football?
BuffaloBud420 Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 I'm opposed to Beane because of his larger background in comm/marketing, single-franchise work history and potential as a lackey for McD. However, this is the first I've ever heard of a scheme being referenced in regard to a GM. Pulling for Veach, resigned to the fact that it'll be a charade and Beane is the shoe in. Veach is a better fit cause he is use to scouting for a west coast offense. It absolutely is important the GM and coach have the same vision for type of players they want, which equates to the scheme.
The Crowing Rooster Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 to quote the late great George Carlin... "Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience." You got that right,

The mot important thing is having a HC and GM in synchrony with what they want the team to look like, and thus guide player selection. And a guy like Beane with the experience he's had overall can figure out who fits that scheme, especially working in concert with McD.
The Jokeman Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) They pick the players. Beane likes players that don't fit our current offensive scheme. Actually I did. With Dennison as OC our new offensive scheme will be WCO based. This will need bigger WRs that can run precise routes and move the chains. Also it counts on multi threat RB (remember Ricky Watters with the 49ers?) and TEs that can catch and FBs that can block/catch. The only thing we might lack is a zone blocking offensive line. I don't see us needing to make big changes for the offense to work except more depth at TE. Edited May 2, 2017 by The Jokeman

If it fails they both go fishing. They entrusted McD running the draft on his own, pushing back on his preferred GM wouldn't make any sense. I'd be fine with the combo it would eliminate the endless HC/GM drama and the move would fall in line with the power they have given the new coach. If you don't trust him to pick the GM then he shouldn't have been picking players either. A HC/GM that ACTUALLY work in lockstep would also put an end to any meddling by the owners and or Russ, for those who subscribe to that side of things. Edited May 2, 2017 by Commonsense
Malazan Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 What about this hot take doesn't fit into the existing threads about the GM search?
boyst Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 How?they have a decent line that does better run blocking than pass protecting. They have decent runners, though we are better with McCoy they have newton which offsets that. Their qb is inaccurate. Ours is, too. They have we depth problems behind their number one who struggled last year whilst ours was hurt. Their production on offense was up and down because of their qb play, just like ours. Their defense broke and let teams win, a lot. Their defense lost a few key players and crumbled, like ours. Their defense is built on a stout DL pressuring the front to let the backfield play ball, where they struggled in performance last year just like us. If any team closely resembles us, its Carolina. The only difference is they have Newton who will throw for 20-3 yards down field often enough to let people forget that he actually is not accurate, can't read a defense and most importantly and just like Taylor; runs under pressure

Nobody is arguing that except you. Newton is a pocket passer. Taylor is not.
BringBackFergy Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 but does he think humans should play football? LOL. I forgot about that.
YoloinOhio Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 LOL. I forgot about that.Even better, does he draw his "character" line at guys who steal from their teammates (anything else is ok)
BillsMedia Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 We know which way the defense goes. However it looks like Beane and McDermotts offensive philosophy couldn't be more different. Beane is an offense guy, played Quarterback in college and scouted QB and offensive skill positions his entire career until being assistant GM. You look at Carolinas offense and ours as it sits, quite different. If you look at the players Carolina has on offense. They like them BIG (Benjamin, Funchess, Olsen). They also like to let Cam sit back and sling it, we don't know if Taylor is capable of that. Dennison likes a lot of PA, boots, screens. With short yardage throws, probably occasionally taking a deep shot. I think we should stay away from Beane, If we want to go the current way on Offense. This analysis is completely wrong.
BuffaloBud420 Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 (edited) This analysis is completely wrong. Nice argument, way to give details Based on the OP's name, he has no clue.Based on your name, you don't know how to spell "the". Edited May 2, 2017 by BuffaloBud420
Chandler#81 Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 McDermott and Whaley didn't have the same vision for the team. Now it doesn't matter if McDermott and the next GM don't have the same vision for the team? Wow. I wonder of some if you guys even watch football. Most of us do it without being stoned, 420..
oldmanfan Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 Nice argument, way to give details Based on your name, you don't know how to spell "the". Insulting others does nothing to make your argument effective. Simple facts are these: 1. No GM has been chosen 2. You have no evidence that your underlying thesis is correct.

I am confident this opinion is based on zero facts and just some random thought that you had. Beane not the GM, so you don't actually know what his personal preferences are. But don't let a lack of factual knowledge stop you from starting yet another inane topic.
