Andrew Son Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Worst starting CB. He's awful. I'm sorry you don't watch more than just the Bills. He was Duke Williams bad in coverage last year and to add his one career INT, nothing to get too excited over. Who was his position coach last year?
D. L. Hot-Flamethrower Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 How about today then Wright, 30, was oft-burned in Baltimore. May 1 - 10:15 AM http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nfl/6606/shareece-wright I'm not arguing with you that he's great. Just the lack of accuracy that Wayne pointed out.
ChanOverChin Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 He's a solid vet CB. The bottom line is that McD plays mostly zone coverage on defense. That's why you haven't seen him go out and get a shutdown man for man CB. He needs CBs who can read the QB and make the tackle. McD's system is completely different from what we saw from Rex Ryan's defense. We need to give it a chance.
Bill_with_it Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) That was 2013, Sherlock. Here's a more recent PFF article... "In fact, Pro Football Focus is willing to call him one as one of the league's better cornerbacks." http://www.baltimorebeatdown.com/2015/12/5/9853700/shareece-wright-is-surprisingly-the-ravens-best-cornerback Dont ruin his clear bias against the new regime. Wright is a veteran corner who at worst will provide a body at camp for our corners to vew a veteran in their surroundings, and at best provides decent depth/starter potential. Billzgobowlin Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Could this be to switch him to Safety since we are very light on that position? Maybe do the Corey White role from last year.
Kirby Jackson Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 He's fine as a depth guy. I like the signing. I'm not sure I would like it if he were starting but as a 4th corner he's okay.
DJB Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I think they try and convert him to an in the box safety. Hes much better against the run and hopefully can make the transition. We need safety depth so why not.
Wayne Arnold Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Dont ruin his clear bias against the new regime. Wright is a veteran corner who at worst will provide a body at camp for our corners to vew a veteran in their surroundings, and at best provides decent depth/starter potential. Exactly. This team is desperate for help in the secondary. We have Darby (who was poor a year ago) and a rookie as starters, then Leonard Johnson as our nickel - who was graded terribly the last two seasons. We have no idea whether or not Kevon Seymour can actually play. Beggars can't be choosers.
TUBSTER Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Did he play in a man coverage defense most of the time in Baltimore?
billiever22 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I was at the first game last year Bills/Ravens and this guy was all over the place making tackles. I don't know how he did the rest of the season but for that one game he was unreal
quinnearlysghost88 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 So with no GM or scouting staff, who made this decision?
YoloinOhio Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Depth guy who knows the defense So with no GM or scouting staff, who made this decision?they actually brought him in for a visit weeks ago. McD made the decision to sign him and Overdorf did it, is my guess.
John from Riverside Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 You have to take all these corners and re look at them as how they have done in zone as opposed to press coverage I dont know a thing about the guy so Im not gonna pretend I do......but if they were playing in defenses that did not suit their strengths in previous years you have to give benefit of the doubt
dave mcbride Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 You've made your expected point. Considering there are approximately 128 CB's League wide during the season and he's played in 67 games, has made 50+ tackles per in 3 of the last 4 seasons with 15 starts, I'm guessing you're incorrect. Again. Um ... I have no dog in this fight, but a high number of tackles isn't necessarily a good indicator of a CB's quality. In fact, there's often an inverse relationship.

Look at Lorax for example.
Juice_32 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Could he be moved to Safety? This was my first thought.

Blokestradamus Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 @PFF The Bills have signed CB Shareece Wright, whose QB rating allowed has been trending in the wrong direction.
