oldmanfan Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Your funny- how does me not caring equate to not knowing what RB does- C'mon- ive owned seasons forever and sorry, but I want a championship not the bottom feed first round of college hoops or the frozen four. Im glad it helps our revenue but to many of us we want winning teams. You keep making it clearer that you have no idea what Russ Brandon's job is.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 NHL's Friedman: Russ Brandon leading Sabres GM SearchSportsNet and NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman dropped this nugget late Sunday night during NHL Now: "It sounds like it's Russ Brandon, who is the President of the Buffalo Bills and the President Buffalo Sabres," Friedman said. "But, I think the league would have a lot of input on this one." Â http://www.wkbw.com/sports/sabres/nhls-friedman-russ-brandon-leading-sabres-gm-search
Hapless Bills Fan Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 He is one of the top choices to be the next GM of the Sabres. He obviously is held in high regard by owners. If he gets hired as GM of the Sabres then you will get your wish and he will not longer be part of the Bills organization. Â Wait, What? Brandon? I thought he was leading the search for the next GM of the Sabres. Brandon is currently the president of 3 sports teams and Pegula Sports and Entertainment. Why would he seek a demotion? There's a lot going on in this thread. I've learned quite a bit. So will Russ Brandon eventually become mayor of Buffalo? Â I don't think so. That would be quite the demotion.
MAJBobby Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 So Russ doesnt have say and power. Ok.  Here is Sabres GM search.  Bradley Gelber (@BradleyGelber) 4/30/17, 9:20 PM Wow. @FriedgeHNIC says he believes Russ Brandon is leading the search for the #Sabres next GM. That ought to make fans happy... 😳 twitter.com/buffalowins/st  Get ready for same here Bills fans
K-9 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 How so? His official title is Managing Partner and President. Sean or Whaley do NOT report to Russ. Very little of what he does involves the PR department and he hasn't headed up marketing in years. He's a marketing and PR guy like the Pegulas or anyone else in a leadership position. But they have dedicated PR and Marketing personnel whose sole focuses are those disciplines. Â We all understand that when Brandon came aboard nearly twenty years ago he was tasked with a huge marketing challenge as it related to the sale of luxury suites and selling sponsorships which was DIRECTLY tied to the release of nearly $70m in funding for stadium improvements and I can understand how the perception still exists, but his scope of responsibility is far, far wider now.
billsfan_34 Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 You keep making it clearer that you have no idea what Russ Brandon's job is. Thats all you can say? Really? You got me, I am completely clueless. Your the only one who knows all, I shall now bow down and praise you.
oldmanfan Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Thats all you can say? Really? You got me, I am completely clueless. Your the only one who knows all, I shall now bow down and praise you. You keep saying you just want a winner. Fine. We all do. Getting rid of Brandon does not necessarily help that. He oversees PSE and the business operations of four different teams. He is not making decisions on draft picks, etc, etc. He is involved in bigger issues like brining national events to the city, and it's your issue that you don't see that as a positive for the region

Get rid of him.
oldmanfan Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Â He's a weasel. Get rid of him. He a businessman and a good one. And he should not have sole responsibility for finding a GM and guess what? He doesn't. Â Throwing childish insults at him is just acting like a -- child.

Yav Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Lets think about this for a minute. Pegulas are in the business of making money. Brandon makes them money. Â Sorry what are we asking again here?

njbuff Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I was no Whaley fan, but how can he be shown the door and not Brandon? Â Brandon STILL being a major part of the Bills organization is now beyond irritation. Â Like I said, Whaley being fired is fine................... and yet this clown still has a major say with this franchise and apparently your hockey team too. Â If I was a Sabres fan, I would be sick to my stomach that this Brandon character is anywhere near the ice surface the Sabres play their home games on. Â Forget about impeaching Trump (if that is your thing), Bills fans should try and get Brandon impeached here.
Bleeding Bills Blue Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 (edited) He a businessman and a good one. And he should not have sole responsibility for finding a GM and guess what? He doesn't. Â Throwing childish insults at him is just acting like a -- child. Â I have a few dumb reasons for disliking him. Â 1- My friend was in a box with him when he was GM of the team (least qualified GM of all time probably), and he was gushing over Kerry Collins and the Titans. Gross... 2- Guy wears a Florida Marlins World series ring, from his time... as a marketing assistant. 3- He's worked here for the entirety of the drought and somehow avoided the chopping block, and it seems like every domino around him falls except him. 4- Is a bit of a jerk. A friend worked for the ticket office, and knew Russ at least somewhat. Russ proceeded to snub him, and ignored him and his wife at a social event in honor of... the ticket office! Â If you want more, i'll ask my buddy for some more inside stories from his time there. He doesn't remember it too fondly. Â Here's a few real reasons: Â He sandbagged both lynn and whaleys EOY pressers. He's the Managing partner/President of the team, and is nowhere to be found. Pegula has to do a damage control press conference, because Russ KNOWS that legit every media member, and most fans, hate his guts. Lets think about this for a minute. Pegulas are in the business of making money. Brandon makes them money. Â Sorry what are we asking again here? Â Its the NFL man... everyone's making money. Edited May 1, 2017 by dneveu

fridge Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 We've seen this movie 100 times before. Â Elitists form in one corner, claiming that they know how this works, and everyone else is an idiot for believing that Russ Brandon is the kind of President that actually makes decisions. There's little evidence to support either side so it just becomes a giant pissing match. As the years go on though, and he gets his fingerprints on more mistakes, it starts to get old. I mean, we've had these discussions for what...10+ years now? Â The organization has had a complete lack of accountability since Donahoe (not surprisingly, around the time Russ assumed his power). Everything has to be so confusing about who makes what decision and we're left arguing while no one involved with the front office gets the axe. Â There are legitimate sources that say our GM did not hire our last two coaches, which begs the question... who did? The narrative is that Russ heavily persuaded the owners to hire Rex. Why we can't have a simple hierarchy is beyond me, but either way, that's what happened and there's no amount of "business knowledge" this man can possess that makes him worth retaining after one of the worst hires I've ever seen. He made plenty more mistakes, and I'm sure they've been detailed thoroughly in this thread that I'm not going to read, but none of that really matters when you consider the absolute mess the Bills have been organizationally since he's been in charge.
Zulu Cthulhu Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Some of you guys have no self respect for yourselves. Will beilive anything the Bills feed you and agree with them on everything, quite sad. Lol but unless we believe you about what your "buddy" heard from russ 2 years ago we drink the kool-aid? You contribute nothing of value here and I'm sick of you already.

QCity Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Russ Brandon could crash the team plane into the stadium and the Brandonites would still remark, "You know, he was really good at his job."
