Webster Guy Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Having two first-round picks next year gives us a significant draft advantage to be able to trade up into the first few spots and get a franchise qb. I think Cleveland is the only other team with 2 next year. What we want are teams that won't draft a QB next year to tank this season and get up into that 1st or 2nd spot for the 2018 draft. Teams like the Bears, Titans, Bucs, Colts and Panthers come to mind. (Obviously an Alex Smith injury or meltdown would work in our favor as well). It's likely that the Chiefs and Bills will average out to middle 1st round picks next year, and it would probably take our 2019 first round pick as well, but there's a very real possibility that this extra 1st round pick will put us in a position to outbid the field and get a Darnold type QB. So while you're rooting for the Bills--or against them like some of you miserable posters here--be sure to root against the Chiefs (yes even when they play New England) and the aforementioned teams. And of course, be a Browns fan if you aren't already....
PolishDave Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) I'm rooting the Bills offense and defense to both become much better - eventually dominant. So that they can destroy other teams and beat them with ease and become THE team to beat - kinda like the early 90's Bills teams. Don't care which group of personnel gets that done. I am also rooting for the front office to become the best people at "evaluating talent" and negotiating contracts (managing salaries). I am also rooting for the coaches to be the best teachers and most forward thinking scheme designers in the NFL. And for the head coach to be most aggressive at the right times. Rooting for the Bills to win every game and the rest of the AFC East to lose every game. That's about it. Not gonna worry about next year's draft until the end of this season unless this Bills team falls off a cliff during the first half of the season. Edited April 29, 2017 by PolishDave

The bolded sentence - that's what I was thinking, but ... consider this: something makes me think Andy Reid wants to do to Alex Smith what Harbaugh did to Alex Smith: bench him in favor of a younger/athletic/less conservative QB the first chance he gets. In SF, it was a concussion that resulted in Kaep taking over. I think Andy knows that this is KC's window, and that Alex Smith is unlikely to take them beyond where he's taken them already ...
H2o Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I'm rooting for the Chiefs' opponents and the resurgence of a misguided defense. I'm rooting for Tyrod in a familiar offensive system. I'm rooting for a return to respectability for a franchise that has been down and out for too long.

PolishDave Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Chiefs worst team in NFL Bills best team in NFL Nice and simple. I like it!
MAJBobby Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Chiefs worst team in NFL Bills best team in NFL Yep wont happen. But that is the perfect scenario.
machine gun kelly Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Simple- Sammy and McCoy are 100% healthy all year, we have a top 5 defense again, and win the SB. Not to much to ask right.
DaBillsFanSince1973 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) I'm rooting for crow. I want to see a whole bunch of it eaten by those who have already wrote the season off. of course that's after they win 10 games and lock up a wildcard... Edited April 29, 2017 by DaBillsFanSince1973
LabattBlue Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I think it is a bit of a stretch to say that the two first round picks can get you near the top of the draft(top 3). 1 - Who know where the Bills and Chiefs finish. If the Bills do their normal 7-9 or 8-8, and the Chiefs end up in the playoffs, you are not moving into the top 3 unless you add more...and I don't mean a 5th round pick. 2 - Chances are that the teams that finish in the bottom 3 will also be salivating over a QB...if the class is as good as the experts think it will be. If so, do you think they want to trade out of said spots?
row_33 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 An honest effort to build a real playoff contender is all I ask for. I'm so over worrying about Mahomes, just play good football Bills.

Success Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I have to root for the chiefs in the 1st game. But they can lose every game after that.

WhoTom Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I'm rooting for Tyrod to take a big step forward so we don't have to draft a QB in the first round next year. I'm rooting for the Bills to have a top-five defense.
TSOL Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 I am rooting for the same thing I root for every year, the Bills to take over the AFC east, sweep the Patriots and win the Superbowl.
DDD Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 This team is not going anywhere next year. They should play their rookies to see if they can play and get experience, and position themselves for a top 5 draft pick to get a crack at a potential franchise QB.
