MAJBobby Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 All three picks have been well talked about by the Analytics guys. Seems they have finally started using them as something more than a talking point.
fridge Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 All three picks have been well talked about by the Analytics guys. Seems they have finally started using them as something more than a talking point. Can you elaborate? I would assume a lot the first two rounds would be, "talked about by analytics guys".
#34fan Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Yah... Dummyball over Moneyball... They should all be fired now... While they're in the same room
MAJBobby Posted April 29, 2017 Author Posted April 29, 2017 Can you elaborate? I would assume a lot the first two rounds would be, "talked about by analytics guys". PFF Loved all three SPARQ rating are 👍 on all three The Analytics sites like all three of our picks
WideRightRevenge Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Question of the day ..how much is Whaley (think not) and how much is McDermott (me think lot).
thunderingsquid Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Another word for it is measurables. I'm fine with that but like the rational people on here say "we'll see how it pans out in training camp". Worth a shot, beats our last few drafts as far as I'm concerned.
Buffalo_Stampede Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Question of the day ..how much is Whaley (think not) and how much is McDermott (me think lot).Already been reported McDermott is making every decision at the draft
Alphadawg7 Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Already been reported McDermott is making every decision at the draft With no evidence of that being true though...
Malazan Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 With no evidence of that being true though... This. People see someone...anyone...say something they want to be true and then it is gospel.
WideRightRevenge Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 What about jumping ahead of Carolina in both the 2nd and 3rd ... think Sean might have a little insight where they were going and opted to jump the route?
Klaista2k Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Can you elaborate? How do you know analytics played a role in us drafting these guys?
artmalibu Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 A draft cant be evaluated before the guys actually play in the NFL.
26CornerBlitz Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 A draft cant be evaluated before the guys actually play in the NFL. Wanna bet.
artmalibu Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Wanna bet. Silly me...lol.... I should know better.
SoFFacet Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 PFF Loved all three SPARQ rating are on all three The Analytics sites like all three of our picks Quite a relief to see!
PromoTheRobot Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 With no evidence of that being true though... Well a reputable reporter said McDermott was unequivocally in charge. Not that he heard, he is.
Gugny Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 Well a reputable reporter said McDermott was unequivocally in charge. Not that he heard, he is. Was it a Wawrow/Kryk type reporter? Or was it a Timmy/Moran type reporter?
BarleyNY Posted April 29, 2017 Posted April 29, 2017 (edited) Can you elaborate? How do you know analytics played a role in us drafting these guys? There are different ways to value draft picks. The Bills look to be using the Harvard methodology rather than the Jimmy Johnson chart. That's a sign. That would lead them toward clustering their picks where they did in this draft as well as favoring accumulating future high picks. Look at what Cleveland is doing. That's this method in full force. They're going to continue to roll one of their 1st round picks into a current year high pick and another future high pick. They already have two firsts and three seconds next season. Then there are the players chosen. Two are players that are high on the SPARQ scale and one was average on it. I'll find some links and put them in this thread. This explains the difference in draft pick valuation: https://harvardsportsanalysis.wordpress.com/2011/11/30/how-to-value-nfl-draft-picks/ Here is a link to the SPARQ scores and it has links to more general info on that valuation of players: https://3sigmaathlete.com/rankings/ol/ Edited April 29, 2017 by BarleyNY
